I feel like that is one of the biggest misconceptions in parenting but it is all up to US and how we choose to parent. Just like training our pets who the "master" is, we must train our sweet children who the parents are and what we don't allow. Too often we give up quickly, giving up some of our own wants. Summer, this post is not only a gift to your daughter, but a gift to all of us mothers of daughters! It was such a touching and sweet letter filled with so many truths! I have always tried to instill in my daughter the importance of being a good friend, but not at the expense of lowering her standards, or being part of a “clique”. As I sit here this night with a teen daughter that I am positive hates me and would trade me in for a better model in a heart beat, I have hope. Because of your sweet words and the reminders you gave us, and because of our faith. Thank you for sharing beautiful friend! XO
