Remember the saying, “Calgon, take me away!” I feel like I still say that often. There’s nothing like a hot bubble bath for relaxing and unwinding after a long day. I’ve always loved the way I feel when I go to a spa for a massage, saunas, steam rooms, and in the hot spas and aromatic showers. We may not have the luxury of doing that as often as we’d like, or at all for some. BUT, you can certainly turn your home bath into a pampering session and I’m going to share with you how to create the perfect bath experience at home with a few easy tips.

I can’t believe we’ve been in our home for almost 6 months now. I recently shared our master bath reveal HERE and you can read that post for all the details and sources.

I love our view of the wetland and tall trees behind our home and the farm next to us with beautiful horses running around all day.

I can sit here in this tub and watch the sunset at night and it’s quite magical and relaxing. If you are designing and building your home, be mindful of the location of your master bath and the direction it’s facing for the ultimate experience. We also love our large windows with no blinds. It allows a lot of natural light to flow in and also allows us to watch the sunsets. Our old apartment had little to no design aspect to it. Plus, the lights constantly flickered at one point in time. Of course, we fixed it by calling a local electrician (like the one you’ll find when you click here). But now, we have the best bath anyone can design!

Having a bath caddy is a MUST! You can put your favorite bath essentials there.

I have body oil and rosewater spray on mine but you can put lotions and bubble bath soap on there too. Some people use cannabis creams and oil to make a relaxing bath. It can hold your cotton balls and Q-tips, decor, rolled towels, candles, and more!

Bath salts are a MUST for baths. Once or twice a week I will have a “detox bath” with spearmint & eucalyptus epsom salts and baking soda. Read more about that in THIS POST. It also has magnesium which is so good for you and so your body just soaks it up. Another plus is that it has such a lovely and relaxing aromatic effect, just as a day spa would.

I also love having this tufted ottoman next to my bathtub so that I can set my phone there or a tray of something cold to drink.

I also have a towel and robe and any lotions or perfumes ready to go.

Whilst I love love love a good bubble bath, I also love bath bombs. I found something similar the other day at Michaels (random) and they are bath flowers. It was such a pretty set and smelled good so I grabbed them. Anything like that really makes the bath feel more special and relaxing. As I love bath bombs so much, I have thought about buying some wholesale bath bombs and maybe creating my own bath bomb business one day. Who knows what the future might hold! For now, I’m just relaxing with bath bombs.

Putting them on top of my bath bubbles of a pink bubble bath just looked perfectly delightful and inviting!

Of course, a luxurious bath isn’t complete without a fabulous-smelling candle that just makes you melt into the bubbles.

The only thing missing is music BUT I have lots of relaxing music on my phone under “Bath Playlist”. I still have Enya on my playlist because 25 years later I still think it’s the perfect bath relaxation music. Soft R&B hits, ballads, classical music, meditation music…they’re all good ideas as well. I may have some songs that sound especially good with my master bath acoustics and I belt them out at the top of my lungs. In my head, I sound like Kelly Clarkson but I know my family might beg to differ….haha!

When the sun goes down this is the perfect place to be, as I can see it through these windows. You might also spot some deer, jack rabbits, coyotes and other wildlife. It’s spectacular!

While I love robes and own many that I adore, I also love a bath towel wrap with velcro. If I know I’m getting ready for the day right and just took a bath after going to the gym and I’m still feeling a little hot, I like to put this on to stay nice and cool and get ready so that I’m not sweating in a robe. Pretty slippers are a MUST as well and I have quite the collection because I wear them all at different times of the year and with different robes. I love feeling pretty in a robe and slippers and fresh after a bath. That’s a LUXURY all on its own! I’m sure every mom knows what I mean!

My new bath mat showed up today and I’m thrilled to add a bit more blush to our master bath. And it never hurts to have a sweet greeting like this one as you’re entering (or exiting) the bath.

You may only see the bottom of this robe but it’s one of my favorites and you can see more of it in THIS POST where Brooklyn and I have matching robes (back in our Dallas home).

A pretty chandelier like this one is always the icing on a cake. It helps create a feeling of luxury and makes you feel like a queen!

No matter what kind of master bathroom you have, even if you have the tiniest little bath, you can certainly implement some of my tips to help you feel more relaxed and to have a more luxurious and spa-like experience right your very own home.

Whether you are in an apartment, simple tract home, or even a custom home, you may find that your bathroom is not flowing and functional or even aesthetically satisfying. You may have had to contact summersphc.com/anderson/services/plumbing/toilet-repair/ to get a few repairs done before even lifting a paintbrush as well. I TOTALLY get this! Since we graduated college and started climbing the corporate ladder years ago and raising our family, we have only rented so that we could be relocatable. We have 1 more temporary move left next month and then the next will be our permanent location and where we will buy or build and set down some roots. In the meantime, we find nice tract homes in nice neighborhoods and they have all pretty good bones to work with and then add a few touches to put our own “custom” feel to it and make it, not only more pleasing to the eye but more functional and cozy. So here are a few simple bathroom solutions, some of my own and some of the other designers I admire, that make a statement.

My favorite one so far might just be this open shelving (previous post here with all the details and instructions) in my master bathroom. It added that touch of rustic glam that I wanted and feels like such a beautiful space now instead of an ugly box. It was so very easy and gave this empty wall space purpose. Also note….I had plenty of lighting and didn’t want to add more BUT I wanted a chandelier over the tub. A garden candle chandelier is the perfect solution! The crystals add that perfect touch of elegance I needed! This particular one of mine was found at a garage sale years ago but you can find similar ones here, here, and here.

There is a short towel bar just outside my shower (hidden in these pictures) that we hang our towels on. However…if you’re a woman….you might use several towels ha! One for my hair, one for my face at night…and then you need more space to hang them on. I had this short wall right behind me when I was getting ready and I just KNEW what it needed! And I KNEW it would solve my problem AND look adorable. These His/Hers towel hooks are adorable, aren’t they?! Without having to say “his” or “hers”, I think you can assume which is which The frames were in my “extra frames” drawer and the darling hooks were $9.99 at Hobby Lobby…and then half off, of course, because (like the rest of you) I only buy things there when it’s half off or I have a coupon. Find them online here.
I’m glad the family before us that used to own this home went ahead and painted that bathroom toilet door a dark grey because I think it compliments the original cabinets (handles added from Hobby Lobby) well. The stain I mixed on the shelves was dark walnut with grey and so I love how it ties in they grey door and the walnut cabinets. It gives it some extra depth to the bathroom and makes it less “blah”.

How many of you have husbands that get up waaaaay before you do and do not love the bathroom light shining on your face and hearing the shower, toilet, cabinets/drawers shutting, etc??? Please tell me I’m not alone LOL!!! If our future home does not have doors leading into our master bath, I will be putting them on their myself! This gorgeous bathroom below (source unknown) did such a beautiful job of using plumbing pipes on top for the track and wheels on the bottom to create that popular barn door look. Stunning! And how much do you love the old green paint left on the door??!!! {swoon}
This might just be a small toilet paper solution, but the simplicity of it and functionality of it makes it top-notch!

Often, I’ve thought about getting more storage space in my bathrooms and bringing a large armoire like this one into the bathroom. I pinned it years ago on pinterest and I still love it….if you have the space! To help save on that all-important space, consider moving all of your cleaning products like bleach and limescale remover to a separate cupboard. This will not only make your bathroom look tidier and save you space, but it will also be safer if you have kids in the house. Buy a cabinet made especially for storing dangerous products and keep it out of the way of children, in a utility room or garage for example. Once you’ve moved all of your cleaning products out of the bathroom, it’ll look much less cluttered and you’ll find that you have more space for decorative items such as candles and flowers.

However, not all of us have room for such a gorgeous armoire and yet we still really need the storage it provides. Well, Studio McGee nailed it by adding these recessed built-in cabinets.

Let’s talk counter-top ideas for a minute! There’s nothing worse that walking into a bathroom and knowing exactly what products were used to get ready for the day because….well, they’re all still on the counter! A quick 2-minute clean-up time is good for us adults too before leaving our bathrooms and bedrooms and heading out the front door. That being said, there are a few toiletries that can be displayed beautifully and double as decor.

I bathe 1-3 times a week to detox with epsom salt. I love keeping it in the corner of my tub in this oversized apothecary jar (from Home Goods) and a giant metal scoop so that I can reach it while in the tub. It’s pretty too!

I found a similar solution in my bathroom with this adorable set found at Kirkland’s a while ago. I love being able to access Q-tips and cotton balls quickly.

Tiered trays have soooo many uses and I especially love using them in the bathroom. They are so helpful, saving space and displaying things beautifully. I like this rustic 3-tiered tray shared by Happiness Is Homemade.

I shared this 2-tiered galvanized plant stand (found here at Target) a while ago on Instagram and since then, many people have tagged me on their photos as well. I love how many people took what was a “plant stand” and utilized it in their bathrooms as a 2-tiered tray. Great minds think alike, right?!
