Hey friends! Ok, y’all know I’ve been so focused on my health the last few years and my goal is eating and living in a way so that I can achieve optimum health and truly enjoy life without ailments or being slowed down. I was on the keto journey for years and had a lot of success with it but felt very limited and I just truly love all fruits and veggies…and pasta…and bread. The more I’ve studied healthy people and lifestyles and longevity and a way of eating to fight cancer and diseases, I’m truly convinced that eating a whole food plant-based diet is the way to go…FOR ME. Maybe you prefer keto or vegetarian or just simply wish to not exclude any food groups but want to make healthier choices, more organic choices without the chemicals and preservatives and glyphosate. The key is finding good foods, and in this economy, it’s more important than ever to try and find those foods at great prices. I’ve been so impressed with Walmart’s prices and their selection of so many organic and whole foods. Want to see what I buy each week? Let me show you! This has been such a fun journey!

How I Buy My Weekly Organic Groceries For Less
Ok, we are *still* remodeling our kitchen but so close to being done. So you’ll see a little sneak peek but still missing backsplash and pot filler and a few other details. So close though and I’m so excited! At least we have a fridge and appliances and are back to cooking in the kitchen. Woohoo!
I focus on eating whole foods instead of processed food. I buy lots of healthy grains each week at Walmart like organic white rice and brown rice, oats, quinoa, and chickpea pasta and other organic pasta. I start each day with a large bowl of fresh organic fruit or organic veggies or both.. I make sure to buy any fruit on the “Dirty Dozen List” organic every single time with no exceptions. (Those include strawberries, spinach, kale, nectarines, peaches, apples, grapes, bell and hot peppers, cherries, pears, celery, and tomatoes.) Then there’s the “Clean 15 List” and those don’t need to be organic. (Those are avocado, sweet corn, pineapple, onion, papaya, frozen sweet peas, asparagus, honeydew melon, kiwi, cabbage, mushrooms, cantaloupes. mango, watermelon, sweet potatoes.) Everything else not on those lists, I try to also buy organic but don’t stress if I can’t find it organic that week.
I also buy organic nuts at Walmart and I buy a lot of cashews because that’s how I make a lot of vegan dressings. Other things on my weekly shopping list tend to include organic pasta sauce, unsweetened almond milk, sparkling water, organic sprouted bread, organic lemon juice, organic apple cider vinegar, raw honey, non-dairy coconut yogurt. I also find such a fabulous variety of organic lentils. It’s just fantastic! I eat a lot of those for my protein.
With low-price quality private brands, you don’t have to feel like you are “trading down” when you buy Walmart Brands. You can really stretch your dollar much further!
Shopping Tip To Simplify Getting Groceries And Getting Them Quicker
It’s so cool that I don’t have to go to a more expensive specialty store for this selection of organic, whole foods and I can literally go down the road and find all of this at Walmart.
Especially with this crazy kitchen remodel (that has gone on waaay longer than expected) and refusing to eat out every night (unhealthy and expensive), it has been imperative that I find the easiest way to get my groceries.
Oh, did I mention I was cooking every day on my camping burner with propane and washing my dishes on the side of the house? Hahaha it’s been an adventure, y’all! It’s felt a little bit like camping!
Ok and here is my shopping tip…
So for my groceries, I open up my Walmart app and find everything I need and then put it in my cart. I check out and find the best time to go pick up my groceries (preferably the time I have any appointments so I’m not going out twice that day) and then I pull up to a pick-up stall and check-in on the app. They bring my groceries out to me, put them in the back of my car, and voila! Done! Soooo easy, right?! Another helpful hint is doing it just before your kids get home from school and then they can help you bring the groceries in and put them away.
Another tip….
Don’t feel like leaving the house? I have plenty of those weeks too. I have too much going on and I don’t even have time to drive and pick up the groceries some days so then I just have my groceries delivered by Walmart. How cool is that?! I’ve done that the last 3 weeks and I could really get used to it. It’s so convenient. The person shopping also messages me and lets me know if there are any substitutions and I’ve easily found a good back-up. My mom and grandma could have totally used this luxury decades ago. This is the life ha!
I mean….you really can’t beat getting healthy groceries while staying in your budget AND having someone do your shopping AND get them put into your car for you OR delivered to your home. With all the food prep I do and cooking each night, it makes my life so much easier and lightens my load.
Are you doing this already or is this news to you? If you don’t already shop at Walmart or if you didn’t know they had this selection, you MUST give them a try! I’m so pleased with my weekly shopping trips with them and when they wanted to collaborate again I immediately said YES because I’m already a regular shopper and love getting my groceries and household items with them. It’s pretty great to bypass standing in line at the store and just getting someone to shop for you. Winning!
Healthy Snacks
Here are a few snack ideas from my groceries, made with healthy ingredients.
We are obsessed with potatoes so I wash and slice them, add some garlic salt, and then stick them in my cute air fryer for almost 20 minutes. Serve with organic ketchup, as it doesn’t have high fructose corn syrup like non-organic. It’s in between a fry and a potato chip. So yummy!
Yep, salad is a snack. It’s also a meal some days but I sure love chopping up and putting together this salad of organic romaine and spinach, carrots, green and purple cabbages, and onions. I’ll throw it in a bowl with yummy homemade vegan dressing, put it in a wrap, or use it in another recipe. So crunchy and delish!
We looooove making smoothie bowls and nice cream (frozen fruit, mostly bananas, with a little honey and unsweetened almond milk) after the kids get home from school or at night while watching a show. I’ll top it with healthy granola, fruit, and hemp seed. It’s the yummiest AND prettiest treat!
Not pictured, but along these lines we also love coconut yogurt with granola and fruit. We eat this almost every day and is a favorite of ours.
Food Prep And Storage
A couple of times a week, I wash and chop up all my produce and store them in these glass bowls and put them in the fridge. It makes it SUPER duper easy for your kids to just grab a healthy snack, pack their lunches, and add to their breakfast. It’s been life-changing, actually.
