I’m obsessed with palm leaf print during the summer! I have dresses and bags and other fun accessories with palm print. I shared a fun post about it last year. But I also have some home accents with it beautiful palm leaf print as well and I’m sharing all of them with you today, from home to fashion.

PALM LEAF PRINT SUMMER APPAREL

We leave for Hawaii next week so I’ve been looking for darling swimsuit coverups to coordinate with all of my fun new suits. I loved this one so much! It’s like a lighter mint green and knew right away it would be perfect to wear with this new clutch and earrings. Aren’t they so cute together?!

Earlier in June, my hubby whisked me away to Southern California for an early 40th Birthday getaway and we had so much fun. The hotel we stayed at had this wallpaper and when I saw they wall, I couldn’t resist a photo opp…ha! I love this darling kimono as a swimsuit cover, although you can also wear it with jeans or shorts and a tshirt or cami. You can find this kimono HERE and HERE. I completed this day’s look with my favorite summer sandals and this cute summer fedora. You can’t see, but I’m wearing a palm leaf print swimsuit so I’ll share some fun options at the end of the post.

A couple of years ago on one of our Hawaii trips, my sister and I met at the beach in palm leaf print swimsuits. Mine is no longer available and neither is her exact suit but I loved how she wore it with a pink top from a different set. So fun! Linking a bunch of similar options at the end of the post!

Recently on my Instagram stories, I shared this DARLING new one-piece swimsuit I found HERE. The price is killer and guess what? It’s sooooo flattering on! I absolutely love it and love the quality! I was so pleasantly surprised because other similar suits that I love are around $200. This suit is a must-have!

Here’s a little peak a few things that I’m packing for next week’s trip to Hawaii. Do you see how much I’m loving palm leaf print? Hahaha! Don’t worry, I won’t be wearing it all together.

PALM LEAF PRINT SUMMER ACCESSORIES

This darling palm leaf print duffle bag with a blush background has been one of my faves so far this season. It’s fun for the summer and also makes a darling overnight bag, carry-on, or gym bag.

This pink and palm leaf print towel is the cutest! I bought it for the summer pool days and Hawaii. I also found these cute palm leaf print notebooks (at TJMaxx) but will share some similar below at the end of the post as well. For more info on my blush pink office, see this post.

PALM LEAF PRINT SUMMER HOME ACCENTS

I decided to add some fun blush pink and palm leaf print pillows to my bed for the rest of the summer and switch things up a bit. Isn’t it fun?!

And then in my office….

I grabbed a palm leaf print throw blanket from the same line as my pillows, towel, and duffle bag in the above pictures and put it on my club chair. I think it’s a fun summer touch! As I’m posting this and trying to link it for you, the website says that it just sold out at Pottery Barn Teen. Darn it!!

Pink Lemonade Outdoor Dining Table For Girls Night

If you’re a regular reader, you know that we’ve lived here 7 1/2 months and built this home. All the landscaping is simple and new. My flowers and plants are just babies and newly-planted so I don’t have the mature garden that I dream of…not yet. I just received my back patio furniture last month. You can read all about it HERE and find all the sources.

I’ve been loving eating on our back patio most spring and summer nights so far. Weather and insects did not permit that in Texas so we are really loving the Pacific Northwest for that alone.

I thought it would be the perfect time to invite just a few girlfriends over for an intimate dinner on my patio instead of going out.

Y’all know I love to set a table and I also love pink. I’ve been obsessed with lemons, this season especially, so a “pink lemonade” theme sounded fun and summery.

A simple lemon cake from Trader Joe’s with some flowers and lemon garnish was easy and delicious.

Last year I made a fruit and floral arrangement with limes that I loved so much so I thought it would be fun to try something similar with lemons for a quick and easy centerpiece. See the tutorial I used HERE.

Pink roses and carnations were inexpensive and the only pink flowers at Trader Joe’s (ha!) so I did a fun little mix of those in the center and then sliced lemons around the inside of the hurricane and vase.

I clipped lemons from a faux lemon branch and hot glued them to some leaves to make a cute little decor piece for the middle of each plate. You could even tie their name, written on a strip of paper, on the lemons as a place card.

All sources are linked below in the “Shop The Post” section except for the trays and hurricane. Those were fun items I found at HomeGoods and couldn’t find the same ones online for you but linked similar items.

Speaking of HomeGoods….I was in there last month and found the cutest scallop planter pot. I knew it would be perfect for my lemon tree so I brought it home. I can’t wait for lemons to grow off those little branches! I have fond memories of going to my grandparents’ home and always picking fresh lemons for homemade lemonade and for lemon water and lemon recipes. I found a matching smaller pot last week so I’m going to grow blueberries in there. And check out my hydrangeas! They are blooming and growing….Woohoo!!

We purchased a gray and white striped bistro awning to cover the rest of the patio BUT the guys are still swamped and haven’t gotten to it, ugh. Can’t wait to show that to you when it’s been hung.

We still have a LOT to add to our back and side yards. Play area for the kids, a garden, fruit trees, a lounge area, fire pit, fairy garden and more. But I did manage to get my husband a really fun Fathers’ Day gift….

I designed it and made it with the help of my mom, who happened to be in town, and a couple of young men to bring some muscle to the project. I’m hoping to get the tutorial done this week and on the blog so stay tuned! My husband was soooo surprised and loved it so much. Here is my son, Beckham, testing it out.

Master Bedroom Summer Refresh

I recently shared my first Summer Tour HERE, which included my Living Room and Kitchen. Today I wanted to share with you how I made simple changes to give my Master Bedroom a summer refresh!

Looking back….

Last year back in Dallas before building our home here in the Pacific Northwest and moving across the country, our master bedroom looked like this (read all about it here).

We kept the bedding and some pillows and we still love our headboard and bench but I was convinced I wanted to do something totally different in this new home. But guess what? I’ve been looking and thinking and I really don’t know what I want to do yet. So instead, I’m finishing other spaces in our home first and I decided to just give our master bedroom here a “summer refresh” and change a few things. It’s easy! You can do it too! Here’s what I did in this home.

Instead of keeping our ivory down duvet cover on the entire bed, I folded it down and kept it just at the foot of the bed for a cooler night. Since the temperatures are now warmer, our fresh crisp sheets and white ruffle coverlet seem just perfect. I also like the way the white linens and bedding brighten up the room.

Mixing Whites and Creams

Tip: Mixing whites and creams are absolutely OKAY to do!
I love the way it gives the room more sophistication and looks lovely, layered together.
DON’T add just one pop of cream in a room or it might appear “dirty”.
DO try to balance the whites and creams.

Updating Our Nightstands

Our last nightstands were vintage finds from our days back in Waco, Texas. I wanted some nicer pieces that were more functional and had cleaner lines and more contemporary drawer knobs or pulls.

I was so happy to partner with my friends at Universal Furniture on these gorgeous Summer Hill Nightstands. I love the size, as I wanted large nightstands that could be great for storage but beautiful too.

(Mirrored framed art with linen matting is from a designer warehouse sale in California a few years ago but the dress form art is titled “Trés Jolie” if you wanted to search them on the net.)

I love the ring drawer pulls and traditional style! It’s exactly what I had in mind. I love the ease of the drawers AND I absolutely love…..

…..the smart feature! I love that it has a lift top and a power outlet inside for 3 devices. I plug in our lamps and our mobile phones and there’s room for one other thing so I like that I can plug in my laptop and no longer have to plug the laptop on the side wall. Josh may have tripped on it a time or two in the middle of the night, eek! Universal Furniture makes such high-quality furniture and I’m so thrilled to have their pieces in my home! I highly recommend these nightstands. Josh and I are both so happy with them and they look perfect in our master bedroom.

Faux Floral Touches

I love using both fresh and faux floral in my home. Since I have all fresh flowers downstairs and also up here in my office, I decided to stick with a cute faux bundle I found at Michael’s Craft Store recently and put them in these little glass candleholders that seemed perfect for vases (I loved the gold rim).

I’ve recently partnered up with Perigold as a Tastemaker to share with you their gorgeous high-quality pieces that they offer from the design world’s top brands. I’ve found loads of fabulous home accents, art, textiles, furniture and more but I’ll share all of those fun finds with you over the coming weeks. For my master bedroom summer refresh, I chose this gorgeous Legend Of Asia Spenser Table Vase for a pop of blush for the season. Anything ombre always catches my eye and then that gold base stole my heart. I love blush and gold together. I knew it would be perfect with some of my faux blush cherry blossom stems that I had on hand. With a pretty pineapple candle that smells absolutely DIVINE and some pretty pink matches, it seemed like the perfect touch of “summer” on this tray for my bed.

For another pop of color and also because I didn’t always want to use the heavy down duvet, I chose my blush pom-pom throw blanket (sold-out at Nordstrom but similar throws are here and here).

Summer Refresh Cleaning Tips

While many people do “spring cleaning”, some of us do “summer cleaning” as well. If you were too busy this spring and want to jump into some summer cleaning, I highly recommend it as some of these things are important to do monthly.

1- Dust and wipe down your light fixtures.

2- Vacuum dust from headboard or wipe down if your headboard is not upholstered.

3- Vacuum mattress and then use steamer to kill any dust mites. Do the same to your lamp shades. I do this quarterly.

4- Switch out your linens for fresh whites to brighten the room. Fold down heavy duvets or quilts.

5- Change out throw pillows and throws. If you have a neutral room, throw in a fun pop of color for the summer.

6- Switch out your art and/or accent pieces.

7- Add some fresh or faux florals around the room.

8- Clean any area rugs.

That pretty pink vase looks pretty over on my vanity too. I’ve added hints of blush for the summer by adding a plush blush pillow on my vintage chair (that chair was one of my favorite garage sale finds back in Waco, when we lived there, and I had it recovered), blush faux roses in my vase on my dresser instead of white, and even left out my Gucci crossbody bag on my vanity.

I wanted to show you my chaise lounge and dresser too BUT forgot to take pics (blonde moment) and just got back from an early 40th Birthday trip with my hubby so I’ll share that in another post later. OR I’ll just update this one so check back!

Loveliest Looks of Summer Tour: Summer Fashion & Decor

Spring was graced with peony season and I couldn’t be happier because it leads us right into summer. Here, in the Pacific Northwest, we have a plethera of peonies. I’ve been buying them every week until my new peony bushes finally bloomed and filled with white and light pink peonies. Oh happy day!

I switched up my coffee table a little bit from my spring table (here) and added some pink peonies. My friend sent me this darling blue and white square ceramic jar and, in keeping with my blush and blue palette, they looked so pretty in it. I just found it for sale HERE and HERE, as it comes in 2 sizes.

After weeks of heading to Trader Joe’s for pink peonies, guess what? My peony bushes bursted with the prettiest pink peonies. I found this adorable long basket at HomeGoods one day and I knew it’d be perfect for carrying all the flowers from my garden that I clip and bring into my house.

The Perfect Dress for Summer

This darling summer dress is a new favorite of mine! My sweet and talented friend Elizabeth of Elizabeth Wilson Designs sent me this beautiful Judy Lanien Dress in Stripe and I’m head-over-heels in love with it! She has the prettiest dresses and tops.

I recently shared this darling Katherine Top from her shop and you all went nuts over it. I love her designs so much! If you want this delicious Pink Lemonade Chiffon Naked Cake recipe, I highly recommend it! It’s to die for and the perfect summer treat!

Ok, back to my living room…..

I found the cutest blush pineapple dish at a local boutique and knew it’d look adorable with some candy here.

I removed all the other pieces from this tray on my coffee table to keep it simple and fresh.

I also found a darling gold pineapple that I knew would be perfect for my mantel.

I wanted to keep everything else the same in this room but I did grab light throws and replaces the heavy faux fur blankets with them for the summer. I think it was a good change.

I also added a cute pom pom basket to hold one of my favorite blush throws.

I also changed up my bar cart for the summer. I just received this particular bar cart last month and shared it with you on my French Bistro back patio dining area.

I decided to remove the juju hat that was here on the wall and put it up in our bonus room. Instead, I replaced it with this lovely floral canvas art I found at HomeGoods last week and was so thrilled with the lovely pinks and blues. However, it had a silver frame so I painted it gold and I also put gold leaf paint in the middle of the flower to cover up the silver. I really love how it turned out.

While I am patiently waiting for my new pineapple snack jar to arrive from Pottery Barn after being restocked, I happened upon this almost identical one at HomeGoods and brought it home. I’m thrilled to have 2 of them. This darling jar is perfect for pina colada jelly beans or other candies.

Every Saturday after Beckham’s soccer games, our family loves to go to our local Farmers’ Market for baked goods, delicious jams, fresh organic fruit and veggies, and lots of beautiful flowers.

I’ve brought home the most beautiful bouquets each week that have graced my kitchen island.

I try to have some kind of coordinating treat out on my cake stand and these Trader Joe’s lemon squares, although not nearly as good as my mom’s recipe, do just fine. I also grabbed lots of freshly-picked lemons, as lemon screams “summertime” to me!

Also, later this week, I’ll be sharing the most darling little summer tablescape with lemons and more of these pretty flowers. One of my favorite things in the summer is to wear pretty white tops and sundresses. I love this darling white top as it is so light and airy but feminine. I pair it with denim bermuda shorts and my favorite white sandals that are perfect for the summer. I’ll share more pics of this outfit later.

Lovely Green Asymmetrical Wreath & My Front Porch

This is our first official spring here in the Pacific Northwest and it is quite different than spring back in Texas. In 3 words I’ll just say…..

It is glorious!!!

The weather is absolutely perfect! Everything is green and flowers are blooming, birds are chirping, it’s mostly sunny but a rain here and there to cool things off, we’ve been playing and gardening outside and taking walks and picnic-ing. It’s truly been lovely! I just shared the very beginning stage of my backyard last week and the French-inspired back patio (that’s already had a bunch of new changes). So now it’s time to work on the front and share it with you!

For the front door of our Craftsman-style home, I wanted to create a wreath for the spring and summer that was full of greenery to compliment the new white planter boxes and ferns I planted.

I ran to my nearest craft store, which was Michaels, and grabbed a grapevine wreath that was on sale for about $10. I also grabbed a variety of spring faux greenery stems that were 50% off. I can’t really tell you how many stems to get because it’s up to you and how full you want to make it.

I would just say to grab a few of each variety and then do like I did and take back what you don’t use. I grabbed a few different varieties of faux fern stems, eucalyptus, and boxwood.

Now, I made a DIY Boxwood & Magnolia Wreath back in Texas a couple of years ago and had to use twine and floral wire to start securing those stems to the grapevine. That’s because it was sooooo hot in Texas that if I had used hot glue, it would have melted off the wreath on those hottest summer days and fallen apart.

But now that we’re in the Pacific Northwest, and since our door is shaded and not directly in the sun, I went ahead and clipped stems and started hot-gluing them on to the wreath like crazy. A month later, with heavy rain and wind here and there, it’s holding up perfectly fine.

For the asymmetrical look, just choose one side you want cover and which direction you want to go and then work around, piece by piece and top to bottom.

I also grabbed a few little bunches of faux snowball stems and other little greenish-white flower stems and added a few touches on there. I had to add some floral but I didn’t want to go overboard on this particular design and take away from all the pretty fern varieties and other stems.

Since I have black on my front porch door mat and black metal porch lights (see more on those here), I wanted to tie that all in with some thick black and white striped wired ribbon. So I created a big bow and fastened that on with floral wire.

I really like the way that looks! I think it turned out nicely and I’m really loving the asymmetrical look. It’s definitely different than my last DIY wreath but still green and fresh-looking!

I ordered these white Nantucket-style planter boxes for my front door and drilled a couple more holes in the bottom and they’re perfect! I love the look! I chose to plant ferns in them because A) they’re inexpensive B) will grow quite a bit and look nice and full C) you water them a lot the first week and then they are totally easy maintenance after that and D) they tolerate all that shade really well.

I still have more flowers to plant in the front yard this week, as I’ve been giving so much attention to the backyard. And wait until you see what I’m adding in between my garages! But anyway, I love the way this simple DIY wreath looks with the planters on my front porch. What do you think?
