Well, it’s been six months since we moved into our new home here in South Carolina and I’m excited to team up with Walmart for another room reveal! Here’s how I created this serene spa blue guest bedroom.

{All opinions are my own.}
I bought this cute sunburst mirror and put it over the bed when we first moved in (tall gold lamps brought from the guest bedroom of the other house) for the time being but notice, as I go through the transformation of this room, how it didn’t feel quite right anymore for this space and color palette. It’s so cute though that I’m putting it somewhere else.

How To Make Your Bed With A Layered Look
So since I’m sharing the transformation of this bedroom, it’s probably a good time to show you how I add layers of bedding to make it cozy and to look like they do it in stores. First, mattress cover and sheets.
I added a white duvet with down duvet insert. This was actually one I’d previously bought with blue stitching but you won’t see that so I used it anyway.
I loved this spa blue quilt and shams I found in the Walmart Home section. I always score good finds but I really loved this. Such a serene color for this room! Hang with me. I know this looks weird but there’s a reason to layer….
I like to fold it down but not all the way, back, and then fold it down again.
Next, I folded the down comforter down, just over the edge of the quilt and showing the sheets. This is where it’s helpful to make sure your sheets are fresh out of the dryer or ironed. Wrinkly sheets wouldn’t look good ha!
Fold down the top part/cuff of your flat sheet and tuck them in on the sides, under the mattress. I fold it down just to where the fold of the duvet cover begins. Add white pillows for sleeping.
Add matching spa blue pillow shams.
I also scored the cutest throw pillows for this bed, looking through Walmart Home items. These were PERFECT!
They had darling little poms all over.
I’m seriously loving this color!
Ok….Here’s where I’m not diggin’ the bright gold in this room. So I made a change.
A muted gold would’ve been fine but I decided to grab {two of the three} the spa blue chinoiserie panels from my hallway and put them above each nightstand. The third went to hang in the closet. I also had a vintage floral wall decor piece that I added some silver leaf Rub ‘N Buff to, as to mute the gold. I also brought mercury glass lamps in from my bedroom (similar here) and swapped them out. You still have muted gold in the chandelier and drawer pulls but I love that. Yes, it’s okay to mix.
Oh! I also grabbed this darling white floral essential oil diffuser as well (just like I bought for my bedroom) because instead of an obnoxious or toxic wallflower or candle, you can have a healthy (and decorative) option for your guests to keep that feeling going in this serene spa blue guest bedroom.
What do ya think? I super love it! I love the color palette, the fabulous bedding I found at Walmart, and the panels were perfect because I want to wallpaper this room and this is great for now.
Thanks so much to my friends at Walmart for another great collaboration! Have you been following their site and all the fabulous lines they’re introducing?
