Welcome to my fall living room here at Honey Bee Homestead! We are so happy to be in our new home that we built, out on our land in the country. Life has felt slower and calmer and quieter and seeing the stars so well at night has been the cherry on top. I can hear birds chirping, cattle mooing, the train passing, chickens clucking, and a neighbor’s tractor every now and then. I wish we had done this years ago but we moved around while my hubby climbed the corporate ladder. I’m just glad to finally be here and living this dream of homesteading. I get to share all the pretty blue velvet pumpkins here in my fall living room with you today so come on in, y’all!

A couple of days ago I shared my Blue Velvet Pumpkin Fall Table & Dining Room Reveal. I carried that same gorgeous blue velvet pumpkin scheme into the living room.

If you follow have been following me over the years, you know that my very favorite velvet pumpkins ever are from the artisans at Hot Skwash. They are DIVINE!

Fall Mantel With Velvet Pumpkins

Each Hot Skwash pumpkin is made with a real pumpkin stem that they hand-pick from their pumpkin fields. It gives them that real-life look.

To create an arrangement of pumpkins on my mantel, I start off using a larger pumpkin with two smaller pumpkins on each end. I used Lake, Ivory, and Cream pumpkins for this year’s color palette.

Then you just slowly work your way into the center of the mantel, using various sizes and colors.

It is sometimes difficult to find the fall foliage you envision in your mind. I knew I wanted something very light and not distracting, as to take away from the 3 different colors of velvet pumpkins on my mantel. I wanted something white-ish to blend in with my mantel. It needed to compliment and not distract. So I found these white bamboo leaf stems at Hobby Lobby and sprayed them with this gold glitter spray.

It was exactly what had in my mind! Just make sure to really hide most of the stem under the pumpkins so that you just notice the foliage.

Fun fact: My dream home was to have a one-story home and not bigger than what we had last. We gave up a larger custom home in a gated community on an acre of land to downsize just a little and buy land where we could homestead and do whatever we wanted. We only have stairs behind the kitchen going up to the bonus room above the garage. I just absolutely LOVE IT!!! Each hallway next to our built-ins leads to the kids’ bedrooms on one side and to our master bedroom on the other. I designed this house, every square foot, and I’m loving the flow and layout of every space.

I’ve always loved a nice open-concept floor plan. While I miss having a kitchen nook separate from a formal dining room sometimes, this layout with a dining space to the side and flowing into the living room has made entertaining really easy.

We purchased this gorgeous rug right before we sold our last home. So it came with us and it looks even more beautiful with this white oak flooring!  And, of course, Gracie came too!

I purchased this new coffee table to bring in a warmer natural element into the room but it felt too warm so I added a white-wash (white paint and a little water) and just painted light streaks on it with a paint brush and let dry. It made a huge difference. Why didn’t I do a before and after picture?

I also painted this tray (was gold) to match the gorgeous blue buffet in the background. See THIS POST to see the easy recipe for my favorite french blue paint. I couldn’t find one I liked after sampling at least a dozen so I mixed my own.

Someone likes the camera haha. I used a buffalo plaid throw blanket on my sofas to feel a little more like fall and these pillows (here and here) were the perfect pair together.

Have you started your fall decor yet? Down here in The South, some people are just now starting to decorate for fall because it still feels like summer. Don’t forget to make sure you have plush pillows like some velvet for the fall and winter, add some luxurious velvet pumpkins (I highly suggest you order from Hot Skwash) to your mantel and coffee table, and switch out your throw blankets for something warmer and cozier.
