Happy Fall, dear friends! For those who’ve been following along and have been a reader of my blog for the last 9 years, you’ve noticed 2 things. First, you know that I’ve taken the last couple of years off from the blog and social media to focus on my health and on my family after a big move across the country. Second, you know that we’ve made our very last move into our new home we built here in the country on some land we bought last year so that we could homestead. It’s our “forever home” and feels like this land was saved just for us. I started beekeeping and am slowly building my apiary. I can’t wait to share this adventure here on the blog. But first….I’m revealing the very first space of our new home with you. This is my blue velvet pumpkin fall table and also our dining room reveal. Thanks for being here!

Blue Velvet Pumpkin Fall Tablescape with Hot Skwash Pumpkins
After many beautiful past collaborations with Hot Skwash, I knew that our new home needed a fresh new tablescape for fall with new velvet pumpkins. Daria, owner of Hot Skwash, and her artisans make the most beautiful velvet pumpkins. They even go out into the fields and pick real pumpkin stems for that signature finish.
After painting this vintage buffet the prettiest french blue, I really wanted to do a table with blue velvet pumpkins mixed in.
I chose to do a beautiful runner down the center of my dining table with blue velvet pumpkins in different sizes, starting with a jumbo “Lake” pumpkin and then choosing a few smaller sizes. I also chose “Ivory Silk” and “Cream Silk” pumpkins in various sizes.
For the place setting, I used these gold chargers I already owned, as well as these dessert plates I’ve used in other tablescapes (like this light aqua pumpkin tablescape), and then these beautiful scalloped dinner plates I found last month at HomeGoods (similar HERE). I I added gold-trimmed wine glasses, ivory ruffle napkins, and elegant gold flatware.
I wanted to tie in a little french blue to coordinate with the beautiful french blue buffet. I tore some french blue silk fabric I had in my stash and tied bows around the flatware and then cut off the tails. It gave it a lovely little touch and something I hadn’t done before. It’s definitely giving some Bridgerton or Love Shack Fancy vibes. I love bows so much, don’t you?!
Finding a pretty cache pot or vase or tourine is always perfect for holding a velvet pumpkin with fall foliage.
I grabbed a ton of the same cream seed eucalyptus stems that I used on the ends of the pumpkin table runner that I added here in my large mother of pearl ginger jar. Two to three velvet pumpkins is the perfect accent to any ginger jar on a buffet or side table or countertop.
These 3″ mini pumpkins are just precious and the perfect addition to any vignette or on the center of each plate.
To add just a touch of sparkle, I used glitter spray to my fall foliage. It’s hard to see in photographs, but in person it looks really lovely. I also sprayed the white magnolia stems with glitter as well.

My Favorite French Blue Paint For The Buffet – A Homemade Recipe
As I mentioned, the buffet was a vintage piece I found. The color was custom because I tried at least a dozen colors of everyone’s favorite french blue paint colors and I didn’t like a single one of them. So I took three of my colors and mixed them. Here’s my recipe:
8 oz of Benjamin Moore Boothbay Gray at 50%, 8 oz Behr English Hollyhock from Home Dept, 2 oz extra white. Mix well. Satin finish. You can double or triple the recipe but this was plenty for my buffet. I used over half of it and then had some leftover.
