Gracie and I would like to virtually invite you to enter into our entry. Funny note…I forgot to grab the red ribbon on Saturday for my front porch and so I just photoshopped all this red ribbon onto the wreath and trees and on to Gracie too….ha! I’ll change it out tomorrow.

I brought back the spa blue tree (seen here last year) because I loved it so much! THIS LINK contains all the links to what I used on my tree so make sure to pin that post as well.

Immediately to your right, I have a tradition of placing all my pretty mercury glass trees along my entry table and they all light up at night! It’s so magical!

I’ll probably do something completely different next year but I’ve loved displaying this elegant forest of trees.

I made this cute little swag for my favorite mirror. Just grab some garland, Christmas floral picks, and some pretty ribbon. Twist that floral wire and make it all look right. Maybe you keep it simple or fill it like crazy or somewhere in between. They are fun to make. I hang mine with 3M sticky hooks. Make sure to let it stick for a few hours (follow directions) before you hang the swag on it so that it doesn’t crash. I may or may not be speaking from experience (wink wink) – last year.

This collection of gift boxes and gift wrap from (Sugar Paper for Target last year) was so gorgeous and I wish they were selling it again this year. Sadly, they’re not BUT click on that link because they have gorgeous options this year. I couldn’t believe they were launching this collection the same year I’d decided to use this spa blue color for my entry. Talk about meant to be!!!

While I prefer a large, fuller tree, this space (and just like my last space) could only fit a slim tree. My 12′ slim flocked tree is so tall and perfect for any tall entry but I’ll have to photograph it in 2 or more shots.

I grabbed the most gorgeous Christmas ribbon (see this post) and layered it with a mesh tinsel ribbon for an extra touch and then tucked it from top to bottom, in a diagonal twisting fashion. You can clip your ribbon there if you want but my tree is so tight that it stuck in their just fine.

I love mixing the champagnes and golds and silvers throughout my tree. It gives it so much more dimension.

These spa blue poinsettias here look perfect mixed with white Christmas floral.

 

This is a sparkly tree topper from Target last year but they have other pretty ones HERE.

 

Last year I used really thick garlands for my stairs and I looooved them. However, the family that built our home 2 years ago, and then sold it to us, didn’t put outlets up the stair case or at the beginning and end either. EEK!!!  

Instead, I chose some simple flocked unlit garlands that I could easily wrap some battery-operated lights around.

It’s worked perfectly and was easy to strap to the banisters with clear zip ties.

Use the same ribbon you’re using on your entry tree OR if you don’t have an entry tree, use a beautiful neutral ribbon to make bows and place throughout the banister. 

Another tip: If you use red in your other trees then you can choose red on your banister. Or if you use blue or gold, etc…use that color to help it look seamless.

I love this view at the top and I’m thrilled with this chandelier we put in the entry!
See that tree in the right corner? We never found the other one after the move, as they used to sit on my front porch, so why not stick another tree in the entry? Ha! I’ll prob move it into the dining room.

I’m so grateful to have been able to find a home when we moved here that had a tall entry for my very tall tree, as we’d built our last home with an open tall entry in mind and were excited for a tall tree in the entry. As building would’ve taken almost 2 years, we really lucked out when we found this home. It’s the little things! I would’ve hated to have gotten rid of this tree or my entry mirror. Glad it worked out.

 Ok,the “Beautiful” line by Drew Barrymore at Walmart is soooo gorgeous!!! Have you seen it? WOW!

This blender was a must-have. I have another heavy duty blender but I don’t need to use it every single time I’m blending. This is so pretty I could keep it out on the counter.

How many of you have an old crockpot that needs to be replaced? Mine still worked but it was an eye-sore. I’m obsessed with this one from Drew Barrymore’s “Beautiful” line as well.

Here are some other gorgeous pieces from the Beautiful line. Some were out of stock for a couple weeks but they’re back in stock so HURRY and ORDER them now! I have the dutch oven, the air fryer, and the toaster on the way as well and they’ll look so pretty in my soon-to-be renovated kitchen. If you click on my last year’s tour of that Christmas tree, you’ll see my tree just did not stand out as much as it does now.

It was pretty but this year’s ribbon just really makes it pop and gives it that added color it needs.

I also used their Glitter Open Weave Christmas Ribbon, glittered Christmas stems, and Christmas tree flowers as well

They’ve got the most beautiful ornaments, so make sure and check those out.

Note: This is my 12′ Slim Flocked Christmas Tree I’ve had for 3 years now. The trick to get it looking fuller is to dress it with thick ribbon and fill it with a lot of stems and ornaments. I use the two ribbons together and tuck them in the tree and then twist and turn the ribbon and tuck them in again after working my way down the tree a different direction. I tend to go a little zig-zag.

 

Decorators Warehouse has an abundance of beautiful decor, like this lovely glass Christmas tree. I chose the one with a star to add to my collection in my entry and it fit in perfectly!

Tip: I use battery-operated twinkle lights and put them in my little garland with 3-M clear hooks across my entry table below my favorite mirror and also use the lights to go inside my other glass tall and medium trees.

I created a swag across the top of my mirror with left over faux greenery, stems, a bow and wired it together. It’s also hung with 3-M hooks and I threw in some battery-operated twinkle lights on the side and they are easy to reach since they hang off the side and down the back and on the little hook of the mirror where it rests.

 

Ok, Gracie was so cute in front of the tree and she held still long enough (almost) in between escaping out the open front door during my photo shoot and thought it was cute to run around in circles and bark and put on a show for the neighbors haha! She earned her treats. But just behind her, these bags and boxes and wrapping paper matched all my soft aqua perfectly this year right?! It was so fun.

And because I know you’ll ask, and I get asked every year, the sleigh and bells were a fun find years ago from some Christmas gift show. Sorry I don’t have a source for those.

 

The other huge difference between last year’s entry and this year’s entry was the fabulous addition of the most gorgeous flocked pre-lit 9′ garlands that we added to my banisters.

I mean…my jaw was on the floor, friends!!!  I had some others that I bought years ago and they burnt out and they were not half as full and gorgeous. These knocked my socks off and were less expensive. Wow!! you need these!!!

They were so stunning on their own, I didn’t want to detract attention from the tree. So I just added the tinsel ribbon and large bows and skipped ornaments and stems. They’re really fabulous!

I picked up a new twinkling star this year and it really shows off the pretty ribbon from Decorators Warehouse, doesn’t it?!

I love how all this decor ties in with my Framed Hand-painted Chinoiserie Panels in the background.

Each year during the month leading up to Valentine’s Day, my family loves the tradition of a candy bar buffet.  It sounds silly, but having it available makes the kids want candy less. Crazy, right?! Also, from October to March (during those chilly months), I like to have a hot cocoa bar cart set up for the kids and their friends and other guests as well. Having both of these areas adorned with cute banners is such a fun part of holidays.  I made Valentine’s Day DIY hot cocoa bar and candy bar pennant banners and wanted to offer them as free printables here on the blog as well to share with all of you. Read on below for easy instructions!

So here’s my hot cocoa bar pennant banner.  I really had fun creating the little graphics with the whipped cream and marshmallows and darling little mug with a heart.

Here’s my candy buffet pennant banner. The pics don’t do it justice but the heart sucker, hard candy and pink heart chocolate graphics are just even cuter in person!

I also found this heart-embossed pink paper at Michael’s.

Supplies:
All you’ll need is white card stock, pink card stock, your printer, scissors and/or paper cutter, thin ribbon, glue or permanent scrapbook adhesive, mini hole punch, 2 1/2″ circle punch, string/twine, tape (if you want to center and keep paper on twine). Optional: Iridescent glitter, glue, and small paint brush OR Valentine print ribbon (as a top trim on banner).

Instructions:

Here’s what I did. First, print out each sheet of 2″ circles from the links below.

Please note, these designs are FOR PERSONAL USE ONLY!!! (Protected by copyright laws and I will have to take legal action if I see them reproduced on Etsy or CreativeMarket or anywhere else. I have tools to search he web looking for them. Yes, I have to say this because some people are dishonest. Ugh. Ok…we have that out of the way. Moving on…)

Next, use a 2 1/2″ circle punch to punch them out or a scallop is cute too. Then I used my paper cutter to make the pennant banner flags about 4″ high and 3 1/4″ wide with a 45º angle to the center from each bottom corner.  I didn’t want to go up very far. You can decide how far you want to go up. I liked going up 1/2″.

Adhere the circle to the pennant. Mini hole-punch each top corner and use twine or string of choice going down one corner and up through the opposite.  Once you have the entire thing done and centered, you can tape the back so that it stays in place.

This is optional but I like to brush the top of the banner with glue and iridescent glitter (I’ll even layer it on the hot cocoa banner to look like sparkly snow) for a fun effect.  You can also add a small ribbon trim instead and punch the holes for the twine a little lower.

Tie ribbon on each end of banner and hang it at desired location. I used mini clear 3M hooks and then attached the candy banner to my mirror and then just used tape to hang my hot cocoa banner on my bar cart. Easy peasy!

 

Valentine’s Day is my very favorite holiday (after Christmas). Have so much fun printing these and hanging them for your friends and family to enjoy all the sweets! Did you know that Valentine’s Day was my 2nd favorite holiday? Yep. Right after Christmas, this is my next favorite holiday.  I live for all the fun traditions I’ve created for my family and love spoiling them with extra hugs, kisses, love notes, and sweets.  And of course, I love adding extra pink around my home. Today, a group of friends and I are sharing our Valentine’s Day inspiration and I’m sharing my tips for classy Valentine’s decorating.

Everyone knows what traditional pieces they love using for most holidays but when it comes to Valentine’s Day decorating, I hear people say over and over that they either A) don’t have much or any decor for this holiday, B) they don’t like any of the decor they have, or C) they never decorate for Valentine’s because they don’t know how.

 

Tips for Classy Valentine’s Decorating

So here are my tips for classy Valentine’s decorating so that you’ll start loving to decorate for this holiday as much as I do and find it easier than you have in the past.  First, let’s start with a few things you should not do.

Things you should NOT do when decorating for Valentine’s Day:
• Do NOT use kitschy, tacky, cheap decor. (Yes, it’s okay to pass up all of those fun little decor items in that famous dollar spot in the front of Target if you’re going for a classier look! Less is more here.)
• Do NOT overdo the pink and red combination. (This isn’t Christmas decorating and you don’t want every nook and cranny bursting with pink and red if you want classy Valentine’s decor.)
• Do NOT use too many heart-print items or lip-print items. (I know…tempting. It’s all so cute but if you’re trying to achieve more of a “classy” look, beware of all the prints and from buying every heart pillow for sale.)
• Do NOT purchase Valentine’s decor that doesn’t go with your style and the look you’ve already created in your home. (It should look like it belongs and flow seamlessly with existing home decor.)

Things you SHOULD do when decorating for a classy Valentine’s season:

• Bring out pink home decor accents (or any red if desired as well) that you already own to decorate. (This might include pink vases, ginger jars, glass sea beads, large and small candles, cake stands, trays, throw pillows, throw blankets, recipe books for the kitchen with pink and/or red colors, etc.)
• Create fresh flower arrangements at home with affordable bouquets from your local grocer. (I have a weekly fresh flower budget and so I like to mix a few different pink flower varieties with some white and even red too.)
• Invest in some good-quality faux florals as well to create arrangements around your home. (Nothing says “romance” like flowers and using lots of floral to decorate gives such an elegant look and will cheer up your gloomy winter days.)
• Set soft, elegant tables and centerpieces. (You can even keep your table set if you prefer and it’s at a separate dining space than what you’re family sits at each night. This adds so much to the ambiance.)
• Use apothecary jars and special bowls/dishes to display your candy or hot cocoa bars. (Avoid the kitschy jars that you’ll see in stores but instead use a variety of heights for your buffets and/or bar carts.
• Start with your higher-end stores that you already love/trust for home decor and shop their Valentine’s decor sections. (They’re likely to have serving pieces and decor pieces that blend with your existing decor and pieces of higher quality. You can also shop them for pieces you’d normally use to decorate your home and choose those items in pinks/reds.)
• Do get creative and create beautiful decor of your own that looks elegant and romantic. (Wreaths, pennant banners or garlands, etc. should reflect this look and not look like it belongs in a children’s playroom or bedroom.  Keep that in mind when designing and crafting.) If you want to add some peppy designs, then the newest thing on the market is a neon sign! You can Shop Neon Lights UK or practically anywhere else in the world, so a custom sign with your favorite design could add a nice touch, as long as it’s not too flashy.

Classy Valentine’s Day Decorating

Here are a bunch of examples of all the DO’s from my tips for classy Valentine’s decor below.

This year I kept it extremely simple in our entry. Just a darling sequin banner, pink ginger jars, and lots of pink ad white floral stems.

 

I love finding vintage and vintage-inspired items, like this sacred heart cachette, that’s perfect to put out all year-long but especially at Valentine’s, along with pink ginger jars. All my pink ginger jars are from ShopLoHome.Com

I bought 2 of these soft white throw blankets with pink hearts for each of the sofas because I knew my kids would love them while watching TV. I bought some for the bonus room upstairs too. It’s festive and sweet without going overboard.

I grabbed my favorite peony stems and other to create a lovely faux arrangement this year. They’re beautiful, come in so many color options, and the price is fantastic for each bunch of them.

 

I love these darling banners created for me a few years ago. They’re the perfect size and not too bold. They go perfectly with the rest of my decor. I also found the cutest vintage pink milk glass dishes and jars last year and they’re perfect to bring out for Valentine’s to hold candy.

 

Large and small pink candles (these Voluspa candles shown are the prettiest) and fresh pink flowers are the perfect way to celebrate the month of love after all that Christmas decor is put away.

 

I love bringing out some of my favorite pink pieces to create lovely little vignettes after starting with a blank slate. Get creative with things you might already have in your cupboards (like I did stacking these pink teacups on a cake stand).

 

I even brought out my mini pink and white teacups for my large jars. I love pretty little details.

 

Not everything in your decor has to be pink and red or covered with hearts for it to create a classy Valentine’s decor look.

One of the questions I get asked most is, “Does your husband care that you have all that pink in the bedroom?”

The answer is, “No. He doesn’t care. As long as it’s not in every single room.”

The truth is, I’ve offered to go blue in here and switch things up (it was cream and white and grey before) and he said it was fine the way it was and really pretty like this.  I’m grateful he appreciates my style and my love for pink.

It’s especially fun at Christmas when I can pull out the pink boxes of decor.  This year I brought my little pink tree up to my room but I didn’t want to decorate it.  I just kept it simple with twinkle lights next to my vanity.

 

Across my dresser, I added blush and silver/white glass trees and glittery Christmas stems.  These pretty silver sparkly leaf stems were from a local boutique.

 

Did you see these glitter poinsettia tree clips this year? I added those to my nightstand with more glass trees.

One of my favorite things about this room right now is rolling over in bed and waking up to this cute white tree I bought this year.

I was downtown at my favorite antique store and they had all these cute new and vintage ornaments on a white pencil Christmas tree so I was convinced it would be the cutest things to do in my bedroom and wouldn’t take up too much space.

I grabbed some beautiful blush silk fabric I had from my craft closet and set it around the bottom of the tree with gifts, in place of tree skirt.

 

 

 

I made a velvet bow for the top and grabbed a glitter crown tree topper I had from Hobby Lobby a few years ago.  The antique store I mentioned above, they were selling all these adorable blush faux fur and rose-colored velvet poinsettia tree clips. I also bought some vintage pink and gold ornaments that I couldn’t pass up.  All the other ornaments are just fun that I’ve been buying.  I’ll link them (or similar if not available) below.

 

My bedding has been on sale (big time right now) and I love it.  It’s so soft and warm and perfect for the winter. Climbing into silk pajamas at night, lights off, Christmas tree lights on…..it doesn’t get better than that! So romantic and calming and it reminds me of my childhood when my mom would put lights up around our window. I loved falling asleep with the lights.
