I still can’t believe how quickly September came and went!  At least October is here and we get to decorate for Halloween!  Last year, we were finishing building our home here and didn’t move in until Halloween day so we’re enjoying getting to decorate and celebrate this season.  Today I’m sharing my glam Halloween entry with pops of pink that I just finished, along with a group of friends who are sharing their fabulous Halloween decor also.

Giorgio wants to welcome you all and thank you for coming today!  He is probably thrilled not to be the only thing that’s black in my pictures against my white interior now that Bethesda and Halloween decor are present.  Ha!

I just received this new tall gorgeous mirror for my entry and it’s the perfect size for an entry that’s 2 stories.  It’s totally transformed this space.

I had to sneak some pink in this Halloween.

I started with a black spider web table runner.

I received the most gorgeous set of pink ginger jars from Lo Home, the online store of my friend Lauren Haskell Designs.  I’ve Googled “pink ginger jars” many times and they just don’t exist anywhere but she has them!  And they come in other colors too.  Aren’t they stunning?  They come in sets of 3.  The other is in my kitchen for now.  I found this cute Skeleton guy years ago in a boutique.

My favorite white ginger jar and cherry blossom stems stayed for fall.  While they might look more spring and summer, the black ravens and gorgeous blush pink velvet pumpkins make them perfect for halloween.  What do you think?

I always have a candy bar at Halloween and keep it black and white but this year I did only 3 apothecary jars, on a smaller scale, instead of 5 or 7.  We have a lot more neighborhood kids coming in and out of our house than ever before and it would be more candy to have to keep replenishing ha! Meet Bethesda.

She’s our family friend that stops by every Halloween and she’s quite the glam queen.

The other day, I decided Bethesda needed a new accessory.  You know, something of her own because she loves stealing my jewelry and black feather boa.

So I made her this 10-minute Glam Halloween Masquerade Mask and I think she looks stunning.  Don’t you?!

I kept all the other decor I’ve had here too but added more velvet pumpkins.

I switched out my pillows here for a blush, black and grey look.  I didn’t have a throw blanket with black in it so I took a large scarf and folded it over my bench layered with a pretty velvet pumpkin for that glam look.  You can always improvise if you don’t have what you’d like to have.

It’s been just over 2 months now since we’ve moved into our new home that we built here on “Tall Trees Lane”, as we like to call it.  I’ve shared our Living Room and Kitchen with you so far and now that Christmas is over and all put away, I’m sharing with you our bright white entry with coastal glam style. I partnered with Lamps Plus for my exterior lights and chose these Arrington High Mystic Lanterns.  While looking for lights, and I looked at many, I saw these and knew they’d be perfect!  They’re perfect for that contemporary craftsman-style home that we have.  I first revealed them when sharing our Christmas entry HERE.  Here’s a look at it below at Christmas and I’ll update this post when I get my planters.

I just put away our Christmas tree topiaries that were in front of our home and I haven’t replaced them yet but I know exactly what I’m getting for all year-round.  I can’t wait to show them to you.

Here’s another look at them during Christmas.  I love that these lanterns have the same shape as my white columns.

I’ll share more pics when all my planters are here and when I write a post on the exterior of our home and the paint colors.  Ok, let’s go inside!

Bright White Entry – Coastal Glam Style

It’s bright and white, indeed!  All those cloudy Pacific Northwest days of winter have actually been pretty sunny the last few days.  So I had a LOT of sun coming in while taking these pictures.

In my Elegant Christmas Entry tour, I introduced the front half of my entry that includes this gorgeous piece.  I partnered with Perigold and they sent me this gorgeous transitional-style Havana Dresser that I wanted to use in my entry.  I needed a bold white piece to combat the cloudy days and a dim entry, as this can be with just shorter windows.

It’s the perfect piece that is not only high-end and beautifully built, but it gives me that extra storage that I wanted for “this and that” and we use the top drawer to throw our keys in.  I also really love the drawer pulls.

I found this lamp at Home Goods last year but I’ll link other options in my “shop the post” section at the end.

I also found the round brass mirror at Home Goods a couple of months ago but I’ll also link several similar ones below.

Just past the entry, I found 3 gold-framed mirrors to lead into the Living Room.  I like the way they reflect light back and forth to each space.

In the corner of my stairwell I have the prettiest fur settee.  If you saw my Christmas entry post, you recognize it.  I’m still looking for art to go above it but I’ve been looking for 2 months and nothing has seemed like the right fist.

I’ll definitely be updating this post and letting you know when I do find it but if there’s something you should never rush, it is finding the perfect art for your home!

As shared in my Christmas entry post, I partnered with a company that was new to me called My Chic Home.  As I scrolled through their pages of furniture on their site, my jaw hit the floor when I saw all of the low prices.  I could hardly believe it.  You’ll definitely need to look through and find furniture you love and have it shipped to you.

Many people have come over and sat on it.  It’s sturdy and not wobbly and very high-quality.  I’m absolutely obsessed with it!  Isn’t it fabulous?! It brought that perfect touch of glam to this entry.

The pillows were from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and I love the way they look on this gorgeous settee.   Nordstrom still carries them HERE.

On the other side of the entry, I have this lovely wood and linen storage bench.  It’s perfect for taking shoes off and on, especially as we wear rain boots here often.

For now, and since it’s winter, I have a snow white velvet pillow and a faux fur pillow.  I often grab this pom blanket and run out the door to drive the kids to the bus stop around the corner.

Now, for the moment we’ve all been waiting for…..

…THE CHANDELIER!

If you follow along with me on Instagram and have been watching my stories, I’ve been sharing my light-less entry for months and have been looking for the perfect chandelier.  From the moment I first ascended the staircase during construction to moving in….I shared with you my desperate search as I spent hours and hours, looking at thousands of chandeliers.  It had to be large, as this was a tall 2-story entry, and it had to reflect that coastal glam feel that I wanted.

I looked more closely on Bellacor’s website, as I love their lighting and so many other pieces, and saw this chandelier.  It was the one!  I remember that exact moment.  I’m so grateful that they wanted to collaborate with me and send me this chandelier for my entry.  It’s called the “Corinna Chandelier“, manufactured by Gabby Home, one of my favorite brands.

The gorgeous mother of pearl shell brings in that oceanic and coastal element that I wanted.  And with its gorgeous iridescent sheen, accompanied with the champagne gold/silver finish of the metal, it was as glamorous as I could have wished for.

I absolutely adore the gorgeous painted wooden beads, also giving it that coastal vibe I wanted.

The 3 together is the most perfect combination.  And at nearly 46″ high and 41″ across, it’s the perfect size and was large enough for my entry.

I keep telling people that it was made for my entry but in truth, my entry was made for that chandelier!

With 3 sets of short windows in the stairwell and entry, the light reflects so beautifully off of the mother of pearl and shines through the chandelier.

There’s nothing like waking up and walking downstairs and looking at this beauty! And it’s such a grand statement when we open the door to visitors.  I always love seeing their reactions.

On my weekly Home Goods run this last week, I found those gorgeous gold sconces and were exactly what I wanted for the sides of my front door.  I’ll link similar ones below.  All the tag said was “Made In India”.  There was no brand or I would’ve scoured the internet looking for a link for all of you.

I loved the gold leaf finish and the distressed mirror accents.  They were perfect.  I paired them with sparkly battery-operated candles.

When it’s not raining, I throw the plain grey entry rug in the garage and bring out this prettier one.

It’s by Dynamic Rugs and I really loved the ornate design.  (That is the exact one linked and again at end of post.)

At the top of the stairs, I’m still looking for artwork and I know what I want now.  But until then, I found this lovely textured floral canvas art at Home Goods and I love the metallic gold paint that shimmers off each petal.  I may just bring it down stairs and hang it above the faux fur settee once I find the other art for this spot.

***funny story***

Now, if you’re wondering why I chose carpet instead of the matching laminate, here’s a condensed version.  I chose my laminate flooring and immediately saw it and loved it.  I knew it was the flooring I wanted.  My husband asked for only one thing in this house.  While we have a ton of nieces and nephews (4 which were just born this last year and there are more to come since I’m the oldest of 6 kids and they’re all still having babies) and we know they’ll all be visiting, he asked if we could please do carpet on the stairs.  He could envision those crawling babies or even toddlers trying to get up the stairs OR the older cousins running up and down the stairs and having Nerf gun wars and someone slipping and falling.  Our kids may or may not have done that a time or two and it’s been scary.  And that was on carpeted stairs.  He couldn’t imagine laminate-wood stairs.  I agreed.

But then he agreed “it doesn’t photograph as well” haha!  Sure, the carpet is not as aesthetically pleasing as the alternative would be.  We would just make sure the kids were extra careful.  So I called the flooring rep and guess what?  That flooring choice doesn’t have the pieces that go on the stairs with that lip.  Oh my goodness. Really?  Ok well that was kind of a bummer but it was settled and meant to be.  So I just decided to upgrade my carpet and go a little lighter too, to compliment the flooring better.  I think it worked out for the best.  For now at least.

Hello friends! This week I am joining another group of bloggers for the One Room Spring Tour.  There will be all different styles to bring you an ABUNDANCE of inspiration for your home this Spring.  Our team of 25 bloggers have been broken up (into 5 groups of 5) and one group will be sharing a different area every day of the week.  Today, I am a part of the group sharing our entry ways!  So let me just say “Welcome to my home!  And thank you for coming!”

We are moving from Vegas back home to Texas in 2 weeks and I may or may not have taken care of any of my plants (gasp) and so I went for faux tulips and this lovely spring wreath from  Home Goods.  This darling sign was something I found at Ross yeeeaaars ago and flipped over the side that said “welcome” to personalize it with our family name and est. date.  It’s been such a fun piece at our entrance all these years.
This adorable metal chair was found at TaiPan Trading and I love that I can use it outside.  Grabbing a galvanized pail and adding faux tulips is a very inexpensive and easy way to bring Spring to your front door.  I would love to add more color if I wasn’t relocating soon, but the bright white tulips are welcoming and cheery and do just the trick!  I do miss topiaries and ferns though at my front door.  I can never get enough of greenery.

I found that stone fleur de lis in the gardening section of Hobby Lobby and I have moved it around and used it both in and outside.  It’s been a fun and versatile/durable piece.  We’ve also had this rubber initial mat from Ballard Designs for years (similar one sold now here).  In The South, we loooove anything monogramed or initialed ;-p  I like making a statement at our front door.  I want it to reflect my style and tell you just a snippet about who lives here.
It’s simple.  In the next house I’ll do more but for now it’s just right.  Come with me into my entry…

When we first moved into this home, I noticed immediately to my left that there was an arched alcove cut out in the wall.  To me, this screams “interior design nightmare”.  It was not esthetically beautiful and I really wanted to wave a magic wand and make it disappear.  So I got to thinking…and thinking…and browsing Pinterest for ideas.  Then a friend that I follow on Instagram shared her hall tree that she made and I knew that was my answer!  I took measurements, drew up some plans, and went to my saw.  Read here for my detailed instructions and how my DIY Hall Tree came to be!  The alcove was very tall and so I went a bit taller than I normally would have so that I could cover it all.  But it worked! (grey entry mat from Target)

I love coming home from a crazy, busy day to a soothing and calming environment like my home.  My neutral colors that I’ve chosen help create that easy-going vibe that I crave.  Then, I can add pops of color when desired.  But one element I just LOVE all throughout my home is boxwood and it brings that vibrant green, especially in the spring, that I adore.  It brings life and color to any space and such a great choice even if you don’t have a green thumb.  Just spray your boxwoods with a spray bottle every other week and they’ll stay green for a long, long time.  This set from Home Goods also has that cute chicken wire basket to hold the 3 small boxwood plants, which goes perfectly with my rustic/farmstyle entry.  I tend to mix that style throughout my home.

Even this large faux boxwood topiary (from Home Goods) is a great accent to this space to not only add more greenery but it also plugs in and can be lit for evening guests.

This bench was one of my MANY fun finds while living in Waco, Texas a few year ago….just out junkin’ one day.  A little TLC with some paint and recovering the top with linen (on sale at Hobby Lobby) transformed this little piece into something much more beautiful and the perfect size for this hall tree.  Not to mention, it’s perfect for more storage that I needed downstairs. (Home pillow from Home Goods and pom pom pillow from H&M.)  Hydrangeas are so pretty and full and easy to use, even one at a time in just a little bottle (from Hobby Lobby).  I use them to accent all over my home this time of year.

What else happens a lot during the spring?  You guessed it…”April showers bring May flowers!”  Ok, maybe not as typical here in the Vegas desert….but it certainly has been raining the last few days. I like keeping a pair of Hunter Boots (I have them in several colors and they are one of my most favorite things) right next to the door.  That way, I always have them when I need them and they double as darling decor.  Adding some more faux hydrangeas to the tops of the boots give it that fun spring look.

EVERY ENTRY WAY should have a mirror!  Why?  Oh…ya know….you’re busy at home and the doorbell rings and you are NOT expecting anyone.  But you run to the door. That mirror?  Your saving grace!  Make sure you’re not going to frighten anyone away! haha  And this one from Rod Works was just so cute and had a cute rustic, vintage style that went perfectly next to my hall tree.  And if you remember my front door wreath, it’s just a larger version of this small one on my hall tree hook (both from Home Goods, hooks from Hobby Lobby).  I liked that it flowed together well, being that you open my front door and it almost touches my hall tree.

I found this adorable crowned bird at Rod Works and I made this “nest” sign from my online shoppe.  Nothing says spring like birds and nests and floral and greenery and natural elements.  They are some of my very favorite things to decorate with this time of year.  They make a home welcoming and comfortable and cheery.
