What is a pâtisserie you ask?  For those who don’t know, it’s a French bakery that specializes in pastries and sweets.  I don’t know if it’s my obsession with wanting to visit Paris, my planning a European vacation right now, or the fact that my best friend has been preparing for her family trip to Paris (and is there as I write this) but everything French is on my mind right now. So when a few friends and I teamed up with HomeGoods to bring you 4 different Mothers’ Day Gift Basket Ideas, I started walking down the aisles of this favorite home store of mine and the idea came to me…with a little French twist.  Here’s how to create a pâtisserie gift basket for Mom this Mothers’ Day.

Let me just preface this with saying that we were all given $100 in gift cards and the challenge to only use that amount to create this gift basket.  I had already come up with a relaxation gift basket last year for Mothers’ Day and then another idea that I had in my head didn’t work out exactly how I wanted it to.  However, there were so many fun things and gift ideas so I knew it would come.

But then…I saw the cutest dessert stand that said “eclair au chocolat” with the recipe printed on it in gold script.  Ding ding ding!  Chocolate eclairs!  What mom doesn’t love chocolate or dessert?  And this is two in one!
(Eclairs were not found at HomeGoods obviously and would be an “extra” something to throw in the gift basket that you’d have to pick up later at the grocery store or bakery.)  

After finding that cute eclair stand, I knew what kinds of other things I wanted to put inside the basket but next I wanted to find the basket itself.  I thought a tray would be best.

The Ultimate Gift Guides

First, I’ve gathered some of my favorite gift ideas and put them here in front of my tree to share with you.  

While I love a nice handbag, I really LOVE a nice crossbody purse as well.  When I’m out Christmas shopping and don’t have a shopping cart to put my purse in, like at the mall, carrying a handbag is just too heavy and makes shopping exhausting.  But a small and lovely crossbody is the perfect solution to allow me to shop for hours without back and shoulder and neck pain.  These 3 shown here are under $30 and I’ll link them below.  I’ll also link a few high-end pieces that I have and love as well.

These ornament candles have been so popular this holiday season.  They are a great gift idea and you can keep them around all winter long.

 

 

Do you have a gift exchange where the gift has to be handmade?  Make a pretty gingerbread house that can be displayed in their kitchen.  The pretty cake stand alone also makes a great gift.

Cute mugs are always a darling idea.  Everyone seems to love my mug with the fur collar and it keeps your hands off the hot mug.

Slippers are my favorite shoes….at home at least.  I wear them all year long.  In the summer, I wear open-toed slippers, or house shoes, because it’s just more comfortable on the hard floor.  These are so affordable and I get so many compliments.

Pretty treats are always a huge plus.

Candle accessories are always a good idea.  I love this brass wick trimmer above.

Gift ideas for the stylish homemaker who keeps a clean home

A clean house is a happy house!  That’s my mantre.  However, just as I like pink items to bake and cook, I like pink items to clean my home.  I looove NORWEX so much that I signed up as a rep and now they are producing many items (some of my faves above) in Rose Quartz & Champagne.  Hallelujah!  They are so pretty.  Anyway….I’m done with chemicals and all I’ve learned about them causing lung cancer etc.  My housekeeper won’t even use chemicals to clean.  She was using “natural/safe cleaners” but we found they weren’t that natural or safe after all.  Norwex microfiber is the only company with a patent on their self-cleaning sterling silver microfiber threads. While receiving is fun, I much more prefer to give gifts.  I really enjoy putting together thoughtful gifts over just buying something on a list and checking it off.  Of course, when I’m Christmas shopping or putting together any kind of gift, it’s always more fun when it’s something I would like and would want as well.  Clearly, from the picture above of me and Brooklyn, I love pink and I love to bake.  We both do.

This gift idea seems like the best idea because I know I’d be thrilled to receive it.  My favorite things in my kitchen are all the pretty things that I use to bake and cook with.

So I figured I’d start with a pink mixing bowl, added a cute pink kitchen towel on the bottom (not shown) to prop all the items up, a pink rolling pin, pink whisks and measuring spoons and other pink kitchen utensils.  I also found some cute pink marble cupcake liners, some sparkly sugar sprinkles, pink macarons (these can be homemade or purchased from a bakery but I have a fabulous recipe HERE), a pink candle that looks like a macaron, a pink nutcracker since it’s Christmas and then…

…these printable recipe cards with a cute pink Kitchen-aid stand mixer on it.  It’s simple and adorable, useful and thoughtful, and I truly believe that any girl who loves pink and loves to bake will simply ADORE this gift!

**Idea!  You could also include (in pink) a hand mixer, stand mixer, pink ornaments, pink mixing spoons, pink pot holders, pink kitchen hand soaps/lotions, pink apron, pink cake stand or cupcake stand, pink pots and pans (if going for a larger gift idea – I especially like this idea for a newlywed or new homemaker), pink toaster, pink blender, pink coffee maker, and any other fun pink kitchen accessory or small appliance you can think of!  Does she not like pink? Do the gift in her favorite color!**

Hello, friends! I’m so excited you’re here today!  Whether you’re one of my regular readers or new to my blog, welcome!  It’s so fun to join this group of friends (and fabulous bloggers) to share our Mothers’ Day Gift Basket Ideas with you.  You may have come here from my friend Tana’s blog at Your Marketing BFF.  Tana is such a talent!  She not only designed this beautiful website of mine (feel free to explore more of my site by clicking on the HOME page after you’re done with the tour) but she shared such a fun idea for a picnic gift basket.  I love that idea so much!  Today I’m sharing how to create a luxurious relaxation gift basket for Mom on this Mothers’ Day.

Let’s start on a personal note…

Earlier this week I shared how to create the perfect bath experience at home so relaxation and pampering have been on my mind.  If there’s anyone who deserves both of those, it’s a woman who is called “Mother”!  My mom had 6 of us and did it beautifully!  I learned, and still learn, so much from her as she never stops loving and serving us kids and our children too.  Here’s one of my favorite pics of us from the ’80’s ha!

Her mother, my sweet grandma, passed away a couple of weeks ago and my mom has been with her and caring for her and loving her as she’s passed.  I know she’s physically and mentally exhausted. I have no doubt she’d enjoy a luxurious relaxation gift basket idea for this Mothers’ Day.

Straw totes are on trend right now so instead of a traditional basket I chose to use a half-moon straw tote bag.  That way Mom can use it afterwards for flower-picking, taking on a picnic, using as a handbag, or even re-gifting.

Most baskets these days are accessorized with pom-poms or tassels or bows but I wanted this basket tote to have a touch of floral.  If your mom is local and you’re delivering this personally, you could add a small bouquet of fresh flowers.  If you’re in my shoes and shipping your gift basket, a pretty arrangement of faux florals is a perfect idea.

One of my favorite things to relax in is a soft, luxurious, feminine robe.  Every mother deserves one of these and it is the perfect addition to our pampering gift basket.  Plum Pretty Sugar robes are my favorites.  I’ve shared them before…Brooklyn and I have matching robes and I adore them.  I love floral robes and this blush peony kimono-style robe would be such a lovely choice for your mother.  I wear them when getting ready, fresh out of a bath, or at the end of a long day.

Another luxury for Mom is a lovely pair of house slippers.  There are so many beautiful choices that I’ll link at the end of this post.  These slippers are elegant and comfortable but also inexpensive.

Add other pampering items to your basket like bath and body oils, lotions, sprays and perfumes, and candles.  These are a few of my favorites.  Chanel Coco Mademoiselle is my signature perfume that I’ve worn for years and I get stopped constantly, by men and women, asking what I’m wearing.  It’s luxurious, feminine, sophisticated and Mom will feel like a queen when she wears it.  Every morning, I spray it on and instantly feel like a million bucks!

Whenever I’m winding down or getting ready to take a nice bath, I love grabbing one of my favorite candles.  I love Illume Candles and have several different scents.  The new design for the Coconut Milk Mango in the ceramic pineapple jar is not only adorable but it has notes of pineapple, mango, papaya and coconut milk infused with sugarcane and Tahitian vanilla that just makes it oh sooooo delightful and yummy!  Trust me, your mom will love this one!

To make it even cuter, this little jar of blush pink matches are pretty enough that Mom can keep them out on the counter next to her candle.

If you’ve been a reader of my blog for a while, you know how much I love partnering with IT Cosmetics.  As a former makeup artist, I love playing with makeup and trying out all different cosmetic lines.  I’ve promised to be honest and only share items I love with my readers.  IT Cosmetics just sent me another gift box of goodies for the spring and summer that I’m in love with and one of the things in there was this fabulous new Bye Bye Pores Bronzer of theirs and this Heavenly Luxe Wand Ball Powder Brush.  It is perfection!  I love the way it goes on, like a sun-kissed glow without looking orange.  It’s inexpensive and good for your skin and not too shimmery, which is perfect for those with more mature skin and their brushes are such fabulous quality and won’t break the bank.  Your mom will love this for the spring and summer!

Add some chocolates and a hand-written card from the heart and your luxurious pampering gift basket for Mothers’ Day is complete!  Mom will feel, smell, and look like a queen!  Doesn’t every mother deserve that on her special day?  I think so too!

Tip for gift-giving:  If this idea is out of your price range, call your sibling(s) or even your father and ask if they’d like to go in on this basket with you and split the cost.  That way, Mom receives something special, thoughtful, and unique that will make her feel spoiled!

If you’ve been following me on Instagram OR if you’ve visited my spring mantel, table & kitchen, and spring fashion posts here last week, you are fully aware that I have a crush on the color combo of “blush and blue” lately.  I’ve always loved it but now that we’re in our new home and this is my first spring here, it seemed like a lovely idea to just add blue after all of the blush during Valentine’s Day and enjoy them together.

When spring comes, we tend to get out of our homes more and play outside and visit with our neighbors.  Are you like that too?  We are in a brand new subdivision and were one of the first houses in our cul-de-sac.  This month, we have homes being finished and more families and new neighbors moving in and it’s so exciting.  We love meeting our new neighbors and bringing cookies to welcome them to the neighborhood so Brooklyn made a fresh batch of snickerdoodles (one of my faves).

I decided to make printable gift tags, which I have so many of and in all different designs that I’ve created over the years, but wanted a new design that reflected my love of blush and blue.

I loved the idea of using a pink KitchenAid mixer and designed them having a bouquet of blush and blue floral coming out of it since it’s spring!

I created them in 2 sizes with one being a rectangle shape and one in a square shape.

I grabbed some blush double-sided ribbon (this ribbon or that ribbon) to tie around the little boxes and some good scissors.

As for the boxes, you might remember that they are the same ones I use every year for my Galentine’s Day Treat Boxes.  I had plenty of these boxes leftover, since I buy so many at a time and love to use them for different occasions.  They are just the perfect size to hold cookies!

I grabbed some light blue tissue paper to stuff on the bottom, stacked the cookies on top of them, closed the lid, and then tied the blush ribbon and tag on top.  It really shows your friends that you’re putting thought into this and delivering them with love, versus throwing them on a paper plate or in a bag. Don’t get me wrong, they’re just as tasty, but this is just the cutest way to say “Welcome to the neighborhood!” or “I was just thinking of you and wanted to bring you some cookies!”

People love that!

There are just 2 days left until Valentine’s Day and I’m ready to go!  I’ve got my family dinner planned and gifts ready to go.  There’s only one thing left to do…deliver a few Valentines to my Galentines.  If you’re needing a last-minute idea, I’m sharing this darling and simple Galentines gift idea.

Years ago I started a tradition of stopping by my girlfriends’ homes and wishing them a Happy Galentines’ Day, on each Valentines.

I start by purchasing some clear gift boxes.  I prefer the 5″x5″ ones.  I can’t find them anywhere at craft stores, only the 2″ ones.  So I order the 5″ boxes HERE.

On the bottom I’d start with some cute shredded paper.

You can order or make Valentine’s cookies.  Then I would buy some chocolates and candies also.

Cut a ribbon and tie it around the box and add a tag or card if you wish.

I think it’s fun to put on a shirt or sweater with hearts or lips, something festive, and deliver these cute little gifts. We’ve moved around so much, until now, that it’s been fun to make a lot of different friends wherever we’ve lived and surprise them, since they don’t know about my fun Galentine tradition.  You don’t even have to do it every year OR it can be different friends each year, maybe just a few at a time.  But it’s something simple and thoughtful and they will always be surprised and grateful.

I totally missed November’s Favorite Things….EEK!!!!! So, let’s not waste any time and get right to December’s!

I was looking for some fun, new, warm, flannel pj’s last week while in Nordstrom Rack and “Aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!” (that is the sound of angels singing haha)  There they were!  An adorable set of grey flannel pajamas with hot pink lips and piping and buttons by PJ Salvage!  Oh, and they were the last ones AND in my size!  Meant to be?  I think so!  They are hard to find online but definitely try your local Nordstrom Rack.  There are these on eBay and elsewhere also if you’re looking for these exact ones.  They run true to size and I wear the size small.  Love love love them!!

While at the Sprint Store and upgrading my iPhone a while ago, I found this adorable Kate Spade Bow iPhone lightning charger!!  Pink, bow, Kate Spade, purposeful…..enough said.  It’s the perfect gift.

Bath & Body Works is always a great go-to for fun creams and scents.  I loved this Twisted Peppermint Ultra Shea Buttercream right away NOT ONLY because it is pink, but because it has a nice mixture of peppermint, vanilla, balsam and light musk.  And I don’t normally like anything musky.  But I LOVE this!!

Every girl needs a great makeup bag!!!  I bought this extra large one (pictured above) at Home Goods one day in the checkout aisle and don’t see it online anywhere.  But there are some other really cute ones I love HERE, HERE and HERE!  Soooooo fun!!!  I love changing out my makeup bags like I do my purses!

This might seem silly to some, but this photography backdrop (below) that comes with a stand is just AWESOME for taking product pics and own a small business. Or, maybe you just want to take some fun pics for your instagram or other social media outlets. It even fits on a tabletop. Brilliant!

And lastly….all this sun-in-my-eyes before I want to wake up is NOT going over well with me!  Not at all.  Especially now that soccer season has ended and I just wanna sleep in a little on a Saturday morning!  I love my Victoria Secret soft pink sleep mask (pictured above) but you can find really cute ones HERE or at Victoria Secret!
