Welcome to our “Harvest Haven Fall Tour 2016” today where I’ve invited 17 additional and FABULOUS home decor bloggers with various styles to share how they welcome fall into their home. Whether you’re coming from Tamara’s blog at Citrine Living or you’re a regular visitor, I’m so glad you’re here and hope you leave feeling excited to decorate for this fall season! Isn’t Tamara’s home gorgeous?! I’ve always loved her classic style and I adore everything she does.
If you follow me on Instagram you’ve probably heard about my dilemma on which color to paint my front door. I love the front of my home but the brick red needs to go. We just bought samples this weekend so let’s skip the front door and walk into my entry. Come on in!
I’m a huge fan of these faux fur rugs and bought a few of them 2 weeks ago. My husband said, “Oh wow more of those? Pretty soon you’ll have one in every room.” Note the sarcasm (wink). I said to him, “I LOVE that idea! I think I will buy one for every room!” Hahaha! It’s just so cozy and yet has that touch of glamour. One of my favorite finds while junkin’ one day was this vintage bench. I grabbed this big, plush bluish-grey pillow and put it behind my sparkly white pillow (I wish you could see all the sparkle threads). With one of my color-coordinating scarves, I love that this little spot has a cozy glam feel. Especially with our glittery monogrammed pumpkin that I found last year at Home Goods.
Since my family room is “in transition” right now, come with me into my living room. Last week I shared my living room reveal here. I added a few extra things this week to start welcoming fall without changing all of the decor I just put in that room.
I immediately took the shells out of my terrarium, now that the summer is over, and replaced them with some glittery pinecones.
On my end tables I added subtle hints of fall that brought sparkle and shine. If you know me really well, you know how much I’ve loved mercury glass for years. This little mercury glass owl was perfect and went with the elements of this room. While I have a HUGE box of sparkly glam pumpkins, I’m not bringing them all out just yet. I’m saving them for another blog post. After all, it’s only September and I’m known to get bored with my decor. So I’ll definitely be changing things up. Stay tuned…
This cute little ceramic acorn was sitting all by it’s lonesome self in a store so I snagged it! It’s perfect here and it just might have some little treats inside, hint hint. And if you want a gold and marble-looking coffee table like mine, I shared the easy instructions here and it is one of my favorite home decor hacks.
When welcoming the fall season, you can go all out or you can add subtle hints. I added subtle hints in this room because after Halloween I’ll be bringing back more fall decor and changing it up before Thanksgiving.
All I added to this side of my mantel was some sparkly fall foliage and a couple of sparkly pumpkins. It went perfectly with my silver and gold mixed metals.
The same went for this side of my mantel, in addition to some sparkly white antlers I found at Michaels last year.
Isn’t this faux fall foliage just fabulous?! I’m so glad my camera caught the way it sparkles in this close-up because it really is more lovely in person. Especially when I turn on my chandelier and the light bounces off of them.
There’s that gorgeous chandelier above! I found it picking through a gentleman’s barn in Waco, Texas for $30 and found another one for $15. {{swoon}} Ok, moving on…
My daughter and I both love this spot on the other side of the room so she begged me to keep her favorite fall plaid blanket right here. So I did. I layered it with another one of those sparkly pillows that I love so much and a simple small pillow from the Target Dollar Spot last year. Don’t you just want to snuggle up with this throw and read a good book (or blog? ha!). Let’s head over to my kitchen nook instead!
We just added this chandelier and it’s twin to my kitchen last week. I’m in the process of adding more gold to this area and can’t wait to share that with you in an upcoming blog post. Since this room sits next to my living room, I think gold compliments it perfectly. With soft, metallic gold pillows and crushed velvet grey fabric chairs, this kitchen nook already feel a little more cozy for those chilly fall mornings and the perfect place for the kids to sit and eat breakfast when they awake. I decided to call this my “Cinderella Table” because of the elegant pumpkin and sparkle here.
This rod iron pumpkin candle holder was a vintage find at an estate sale years ago. It’s been several colors but now it’s gold. I’m so glad I didn’t get rid of it last year. I was soooo excited when I found such adorable gold lanterns on clearance at Target. White roses were the perfect touch to this centerpiece (and because I still had some living ones from last week’s fresh flower run).
For those of you who’ve joined me for a home tour in the past, you know how I feel about guests in my kitchen… You will ALWAYS be treated to baked goods or something refreshing to drink. I’m famous for offering my guests a Dirty Diet Coke (yum). But for now, I wish you could taste my family’s favorite Pumpkin Roll because OH.MY.GOSH. It is nothing short of divine. I’ll share the recipe next week. This is the time of year I love to bake everything pumpkin and look forward to the kids’ looks on their faces when they walk in from school and light up as they smell the aroma of baked goods.
Oh how I wish you were sitting down with me and enjoying this too! I’m grateful for this kitchen island because it is always holding something delicious under this cake dome during this time of year.
After that delicious pumpkin roll, I think some tea is in order to wash it down! I love my herbal teas and must always have a tea station. Especially during the fall and as the temperatures drop, both my children and I grab tea in the mornings and/or in the evenings. It is so fun to change up my tea station throughout the fall, at Christmas, New Years, and even through Valentines.
This infamous vintage tea cart of mine has been used for many different fun parties and even serves as a hot cocoa station during the winter. For now, until it gets much cooler, it holds a few of my vintage silver pieces that I like to have displayed.
Some pretty grey spanish moss and white pumpkins are a perfect addition to the vintage silver.
These elegant white, velvet pumpkins with tulle and bling are so dreamy and look so pretty sitting in my silver bowl here on the tea cart. I like to call them glam-kins, rather than pumpkins, because they really are glamorous. I love to make my own every year and give them to friends but this year I had a very dear friend make these for me. These are so exquisitely put together by Candice Lee Chamberlain, whose talent and creativity never cease to amaze me. She’s glamorous in every way and makes such gorgeous treasures. You can contact her via Instagram and she would LOVE to make you some!
Looking across the way, caddy-corner to my vintage tea cart, you see this tall mirror in my dining room. I usually keep this vintage silver tray here with flowers in this vase. I love looking through the chandelier prisms to see that area.
Hydrangeas are always a good idea at fall no matter if they’re fresh or dried or faux. I switched out the roses for these beauties.
Just recently, I found this pretty vintage-looking champagne ice bucket and brought it home. I knew immediately that I wanted to use it in my fall centerpiece.
While I wanted to buy all fresh foliage and pumpkins, the reality is that here in Texas at the beginning of September, there are none. Well, I’ve seen a few orange but I was looking for white.
I resorted to this lovely faux white pumpkin I found at Michael’s and I’m very pleased with it. It will definitely make due until the real ones arrive at my local farmers market.
This was the perfect, elegant fall centerpiece to welcome fall into this french cottage-style dining room of mine.
On my buffet table, I continued with the white pumpkins and pears that you saw on my tea cart and next to my hydrangeas. Pears are my children’s absolutely FAVORITE fruit right now. I just bought 2 dozen of them so they get to be part of our fall decor (and a reminder to eat fresh fruit before a packaged snack haha).
Fun fact: Did you know December is National Pear Month? The Anjou is actually known as a winter pear. They are in season from the end of summer through December and make the perfect fall and winter fruit. Oh, and they are in some of my favorite desserts so I’ll definitely be sharing with you some of those recipes soon.
While Fall can make us think of browning and falling leaves and an end to our favorite spring and summer flowers, there are still fresh things growing and blooming and so much beauty if you look. Find your favorite things to bring into your home and welcome Fall!
I’m so thrilled you stopped by today and I hope you leave feeling inspired. Thank you so much, Shauna! That’s very sweet of you. This is been a very interesting home for me and because I know it’s temporary is really hard because there are so many things I want to do and so little I should do. So fun to have you on this tour with us, thank you for making the time! Love being inspired by you! 😘😘

Hi I am Lisa! I stumbled across your blog from Becca’s! I adore your style and love your blog………Beautiful pictures. I have been on a mad hunt for that stone like pedestal with the groovy like scalloped edges. I need it for my Frosted Clear like glass pumpkin. Where did you find it? Thanks and if you have time please stop by my blog and say hi! Thank you!
Summer says
Hi Lisa! You are so sweet, I’m so glad you stopped by! I got it at home goods. I’ve painted it gray and white because it was a black. I hope you can find another one! I will stop by your blog and say hi! Thanks for visiting!
LISA PARSONS says
Ok, Thank you., I will check my home goods soon!
Angela says
Summer, your home is just stunning! I’ve noticed how your vintage silver looks like new. Do you have any tips on how to keep silver so nicely polished?
Summer says
Hi Angela! Thank you so much! Yes here’s my secret…toothpaste ha! When my kids need extra chores to earn money (or when they get in trouble) one of the things I give them to do is polish my silver. I buy a TON of toothpaste when it goes on sale and have a coupon (sometimes that ends up being free or under a dollar) and then they take a damp cloth and toothpaste to the silver and it shines up beautifully. Best and most affordable polish! Thanks for asking and thanks for stopping by!
