Well hello, friends!  If you’re here for the first time, I’m so glad you’re here and I hope you subscribe above to my email list and come back again and again.  Today I’m joined by some friends who are also sharing their fabulous New Year’s Eve Entertaining ideas, recipes, and printables with you!  I created a fun and simple New Years’ Eve tablescape and sharing some fun game ideas that we love.

New Years Eve Black & White & Gold Tablescape

For this table, I wanted to keep it SIMPLE and I wanted to USE WHAT I ALREADY HAVE.  This is the “adult table” and the kids are eating at the counter.

I started with this great polyester white scalloped tablecloth.  It’s practically stain-proof.  Perfect for those New Years Eve spills.

I found these darling black and white striped dinner plates (by Grace’s Teaware) months ago and bought them for Halloween and New Years Eve.  Or even just a fun Sunday dinner!

I found the darling clock paper plates (for dessert) at HomeGoods last year.  I bought several packages because I knew they’d be hard to find again and wanted to have them for coming years.  I found some online I’ll link below in the “shop the post” section.

I did buy the scalloped napkins a couple of months ago but also thought they’d be great for Halloween, NYE, or year-round for a fun black and white dinner.

The gold flatware, gold-rimmed goblets and straws were all things I already own.  I love to keep all sorts of napkins and straws, plates and party accessories for all different holidays and occasions.

I wanted to use pretty sparkly fabric as a runner down the table (from my Hallween stash) but it wasn’t long enough so I found a black boa in my Halloween box that I used instead and ran it down the table.

I used mercury glass votives and ornaments with ribbon to run along side the feather boa table runner, as well as 4 tall gold and silver mercury glass candlesticks with glitter candles.

The final touch was adding a party hat to each place setting.  I considered confetti but…..I dislike it and don’t want it everywhere….hahaha!  I know, party pooper right?!  Well, it’s the truth!

It was such a simple tablescape for friends.  Ok, our kids?  Well, we know them too well.

They want to eat around the counter, on or off barstools, and then run upstairs and play in the bonus room.  Ha!  We, parents, can sit around the table for a while and eat and talk.

New Years Eve Treat

Every year for New Years Eve, I make what we call Christmas Crack.  I should probably call it New Years Eve Crack haha!  It’s so addicting (thus the name) and just so delicious and sweet and chewy and has the best textures and ingredients mixed together.  The recipe is HERE that I posted a few years ago.  You’ll LOVE it!  I promise!!  I’ve never met anyone that doesn’t love it.  We also serve Martinelli’s Sparkling Cider for all ages to enjoy.

New Years Eve Game Ideas

While my husband isn’t a huge fan of playing games, around the holidays with fun friends and family he really doesn’t mind playing at all and has a great time.  We all have fun and laugh ourselves silly.  The kinds of games that make us laugh so hard are the BEST kind!  Here is my list of those kinds of games.

1. Pictionary – You can buy the game.  We just use a kids easel with a whiteboard on the back and then search online for a random Pictionary word generator.  You can usually select Easy to Difficult, depending on the age, and do 2 groups.  People who are terrible at drawing, like me, are always the ones you laugh hardest at and gasp to breathe once you figure out what they’re drawing.  Hilarious!!!
2. Guesstures – Like Charades but several different things in a row on a timer before the cards drop.  So fun and fast.
3. Catch Phrase – Another one that’s like charades but you grab it, guess it, and pass it…the “it” being the electronic game.
4. Scattergories – Not as loud and interactive but when we go around and see what people came up with, we laugh so hard.
5. What Do You Meme? – I just discovered this game at a Ladies Gift Exchange party and it was hilarious!  It’s kind of like Apples To Apples but funnier and uses pictures or “memes” from pop culture or social media.  It’s hysterical!
6. Celebrities – This one just uses small strips of paper and the players write names of famous people on them (fictional or non-fictional characters or famous pe0ple).  Find out how to play the game HERE.  When my siblings and I play it with our spouses and parents, we DIE laughing.  I have pictures and videos that I will treasure forever…hahaha!
7. Yahtzee & Uno are good “chill” but fun games for those who don’t like games that are so intense and using a timer
8. Watch Ya’ Mouth – Soooo funny trying to figure out what people are saying with that appliance in their mouth!
9. HedBanz Game – This is so fun and one that the entire family can play and enjoy!  

There are a lot of other fun games but these are some of our favorites.

Hello friends!  I’m so excited to finally share something I’ve been waiting to share with you for months now.  Those who have been following along with me for a while know that I have an online shoppe.  And I’m sure you also know how much I love to set a pretty table for my family and friends and love to entertain.  Now, I’m bringing the two together.  I’ve started carrying a line of table linens in my online shoppe and they’re ready to ship!  These luxurious french ruffle table linens are so gorgeous that even Lisa Vanderpump and her husband, Ken, had to place an order.  Other options will eventually be available but for now, come take a look at the first part of the line.

Anyone that knows me well knows that I love certain things.  Ok, besides the color pink and Diet Coke (and of course my family), I love stripes and bees and crowns and ruffles and anything french.

This collection includes linen and ivory striped table runners with a ruffle on each end and an embroidered bumble bee in a laurel wreath, also on each end.  It’s made of 100% European linen, measures 17″ wide, and is 70″ in length.  You can put it down the middle of your table OR you can run them across the table at each seat, as I’ve done here.

At each end of the table, I used the coordinating placemats.  I just love that look! It’s such a fun alternative to a table cloth or putting a table runner down the center.

Each placemat is adorned with a signature crown.

I love the way all these pretty crowns compliment each other!  Wouldn’t you feel like a queen at this place setting?

This collection includes a 3 different linen napkin options.  First are these matching striped ruffle napkins.

Then there are these gorgeous linen ruffle napkins in crisp white and adorned with another one of our signature crowns.  It’s small an subtle down in the corner.  It can be the back or the front of the napkin….it’s up to you.  The white is also gorgeous layered with one of the other colors!

The third set of napkins in this collection are the solid linen ruffle napkins with the embroidered Royal Emblem.  They look stunning against crisp white plate!

Any table setting wouldn’t be complete without these pretties.  Our lovely silver napkin rings are engraved with a crown and look gorgeous on any of the napkins. They come as a set of four and wrapped in a simple linen bag (also embroidered with a crown) for safe storage.  They also make a wonderful hostess gift or any gift.

I love fresh flowers!  They can be the focal point of a table, a kitchen, a living room, a bedroom, a foyer, even a hotel lobby.  A group of fabulous home decor bloggers and I are getting together today to share all the different ways you can create and display a floral arrangement in your home or any space.  I’m not sharing just any floral arrangement today.  I’m sharing how to create a fruit and floral arrangement with limes and white flowers.

Welcome to those of you from my talented friend Oscar Bravo’s blog and may be here for the first time!  And thanks to all my regular readers….I adore you all!  If you’ve been on this blog hop, I’m sure you’ve seen all the gorgeous arrangements so far.  My friends are ridiculously talented, if you couldn’t already tell.  Now, if you’ve been following me regularly, you’ve probably noticed my love for green as I style my home this Spring.

In THIS post, I shared how I used green apples, limes and white floral to grace my kitchen countertops.  I liked it so much that I decided to keep my Easter table this Sunday going with the same theme.  Fresh green produce, white floral, and lots of crisp white.  I immediately had an idea….here’s what I did.

I’d seen on Pinterest how you could take a vase and stack it in a larger vase, filling the space between with citrus slices and water and then adding the flowers.  So I did this on a larger scale by taking my glass and gold hurricane and putting a bowl upside down in order to put my glass vase on top of it.  It needed height.  I sliced the limes thick enough to get about 4 slices out of each lime and disposing of the ends.  Start lining them around the bottom.

I dropped the vase inside to create a space for the limes.

I removed the flowers so that I could see better.  Dropping slices down the in-between vases like a game of Plunko, I used a spatula to move any slices where I needed to.

As you get to the top, you can use a fork or tongs as well to move slices around.  I added 3 huge hydrangeas to the inner vase so that they were just covering the very top of the hurricane, vase and lime slices.

Then I added just 2 bunches of white hyacinths in the middle so that they stood taller above the hydrangeas.

Since my hurricane top is removable, I didn’t add the water to the limes but if you’re using a vessel that won’t leak, make sure to do that before you add the flowers.

Isn’t that such a fun and vibrant arrangement?!

And to make it even more refreshing…..fruit!

And don’t forget your veggies!

With these lovely magnolia napkin rings, this would be the perfect Spring table.  But….

….this cost of levitra at costco is my family’s Easter table.  So I added a few Easter touches.

I used these adorable Bunny place card holders that I shared last week in my Kids Easter Table.

I added some gold foil bunny straws, also from the Target Dollar Spot.  It adds some fun to this elegant table and I think my kids are going to love it.  The rest of us at the table are going to be “boring adults” so I think the bunny straws are a nice touch, ha!

And of course, I had to add a bit of sparkle and glitter!  This glitter Happy Easter garland from Pottery Barn (purchased a few years ago) was another fun addition.  I wish they still carried it but they have a couple of other fun ones.

Each month a group of blogger friends and I get together to bring you “Style That Coffee Table” and share different ways to share our coffee tables for inspiration.  This month, we decided to do something different and share our Christmas Tables.  I know we are all getting together with our friends and family this time of year, or even having co-workers over for a holiday party.  We need inspiration more than ever.  So join me and my friends for seven different gorgeous Christmas tablescape ideas.

For those of you coming through the tour and arriving from Janine’s blog at Happy Happy Nester, welcome and thank you so much for coming over and continuing on!  Isn’t Janine’s home just magical?  I LOVE touring her home.  I love her style and I always enjoy reading her blog posts and her fun facts she shares. Welcome back to all my regular readers!  I love having you here, especially this time of year!  Are you enjoying all of the holiday decor and festivities?  I know I am!

Ok, last week I shared my “Winter Wonderland” tablescape and how I kept with my neutral Christmas theme of whites, silvers, and golds.  I love this table.  But, I always love switching things up and I thought it’d be fun to have a more “traditional Christmas table” for a night with my family and some friends.

Two items were inspiration for this table.  First, these placemats I found at Home Goods last year, the day after Christmas.  I thought they were darling.

I happened to find the pretty cloth napkins there too this year, with green and red paisley print.  There’s even a little grey, which ties in perfectly with my placemats.

The second item of inspiration were these gorgeous candle wreaths I found at Magnolia Market last month in Waco, Texas.  I took my mom for a visit while she was in town visiting from California since she hadn’t been there since we moved from Waco in 2013.  She couldn’t wait to see The Silos.

These were the last three candle wreaths so I knew it was meant to be!  They were pricey but they looked so real and were such high quality and so beautiful that I just had to have them.  Of course, I added my sparkly white candles and used mercury glass candle holders to give it a little more glam and not as casual or rustic as I also could’ve gone.  I wanted something a little fancier.

I grabbed a couple of my prettiest, sparkliest reindeer and added them to my red organza beaded table runner (I found it when we were first married, almost 13 years ago).  I’ve also had my pretty red stemware that long, as red and white and silver were the colors I used our first Christmas when we were married.

I had plans to make cute rosemary wreath place cards I saw on Pinterest BUT I ran out of time.  So, I used these cute mini glitter house place card holders I found at Pottery Barn last Christmas.  It worked well and complimented my pretty glitter deer perfectly.  Again, it added a little glam to my table and took it up a notch.  See more on ideas and inspiration for adding glam to your Christmas decor HERE in my last home tour.

I should tell you…
My kids wanted to help me INSISTED on helping me set this table.  I love love love it.  My daughter, Brooklyn, is 10 and she is really good about straightening everything and centering it all.  Beckham is still 8 and doesn’t “see it” as well yet (centering and straightening just perfectly), but I’m so so glad he’s learning and willing to help.  It warms my heart to see him learn where all the silverware goes and learn how to fold napkins.  On that note, since I was also photographing this tablescape for a blog post, it took EVERYTHING in me to not hurry over and center these place settings.  But Beckham was beaming with that “I did it” look and standing there, ready to watch me photograph his masterpiece.  I couldn’t go and fix it.

But guess what…..I will always treasure these photos.  Always, always, always.  And I’ll show them off to his future girlfriends haha!

As it was a gloomy, cloudy day when I was photographing this table last week, the sun started setting a little earlier and so I gave up on good lighting and thought it would be more fun to share our candle-lit dinner with you.  So romantic and cozy, right?!

This might be a fun time to show you that before I lit the candles, I put up a second mistletoe with the red berries (I have the same one with white berries on the other side of the house) so it matched this room. It’s so pretty and called a “Kissing Krystal”.  The more kisses, the merrier….as far as I’m concerned (wink wink). ‘Tis the season!

I love candle-lit dinners and wish we did it more often.  With it being winter and the sun setting earlier, it is the perfect time of year to dine by candle light.

Especially with all the extra Christmas lights throughout the house.  It feels magical, somehow.

I love the way the candle light bounces off the chandelier prisms.  I’m even more glad that I chose this sparkly chandelier when I have a dinner like this.

Can you guess what my kids wanted me to serve for dessert?  Yes, those store-bought sugar cookies.  Not nearly as good as my own but when you are all grocery shopping and you’re hungry….you have a weak moment.  However, those were JUST eaten by the children.  The adults, however….

…we enjoyed my Christmas Cream Puffs with Cranberry-Orange Sauce I shared with you all last week.  They are DIVINE and the most perfect Christmas dessert this time of year.

They’re especially perfect because of those delicious and beautiful sugared cranberries.

It’s no secret….I like things that sparkle.  I like pretty things that catch my eye.  So when I’m decorating my home, I try to give it those same touches.  Decorating at Christmas time is no different. No matter what your color palette is or what theme you choose for your Christmas decor, you can still add that touch of glam.  How you ask?  I’ve gathered together some of my interior blogger friends that do that so well.  I have asked them to join me on a home tour today and share with all of you how we add glam to our Christmas decor.  We’re so thrilled to partner up with our friends today at Annie Selke, who are sponsoring this tour and providing us hosts with some fabulous items for our home that we are sharing with you in todays’s post.

We’re all so glad you’ve joined us today!  Welcome back, to my regular readers, and a huge welcome to Brynne’s readers, if you have come over from Painting The World White.  Wasn’t her home just fabulous?!  I love Brynne’s style and am always inspired by the different ways she decorates her home for each season. I hope you took note, or pinned all of her images and saved them for later.

When I think of glam, I think of the old Hollywood actresses walking the red carpet with fur and bling and apparel made of fine silks and linens and velvets and metallic crepe dresses.  Can’t you see them?  Elizabeth Taylor, Lucille Ball, Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn….”The Glam Squad”.  They knew how to glam it up.  Now, let’s try to “glam up” your home this Christmas with some of those same things.

Think of using these pieces with these elements when adding glam to your home and Christmas decor: faux fur, mercury glass, glitter and sequins, glass and sparkly ornaments, rhinestones and pearls, feathers, shimmery materials and ribbons, and even a little bit of animal print.

Mercury glass is such a perfect element that gives such a pretty “sparkle and shine” effect.  I used mercury glass candlesticks on my living room mantel.

I adore this mercury glass compote bowl I found this summer.  I’ve filled it with flowers in the past but this Christmas I found it to be the perfect piece to use and fill with sparkly ornaments.

Fur rugs, throws or pillows also help you add glam touches to your christmas decor.  I used faux fur material by the yard to create a tree skirt in my family room.

I love how it turned out.

I also added a fur piece underneath this tray when styling my Christmas Coffee Table.  With a pretty mirrored tray and some beautiful sparkly Christmas pieces, it gives this rustic coffee table a glamorous feel.  Especially with these pretty mercury glass pinecone and fancy white ball ornaments.

Faux fur throw blankets and sparkly pillows can take a casual room up a notch.  In my Home For The Holidays Blog Tour last week, I shared this space in my family room where I did just that with this chaise lounge.  You can even bring out your metallic mugs and pretty candles, like this mercury glass one I found at West Elm and smells of Christmas pine. I even added some Sparkly Marshmallows that I made. Oh yes, I did. And they are so so good (and easy to make).

Come with me into my dining room.  I’ve been saving this room to share on this particular tour because it’s my glam version of a “Winter Wonderland” tablescape.  Starting with a shimmery snowflake tablecloth, I layered it with a fur runner, snowflake chargers adorned with gems, the matching shimmery snowflake cloth napkins, silverware, silver-trimmed stemware, and classic white dinnerware.

Down the center of the table, I added different shiny ornaments and placed them on the fur runner.

I used some lovely white tree candles covered in glitter and also this gorgeous mercury glass Christmas Tree.  I had two of these pretty deer antler decor pieces that I used on each side of the runner, holding an ornament.

Last year, I purchased these adorable glitter house place card holders at Pottery Barn.  I fell in love with them as soon as I saw them.

They really tie everything in this room together.  It’s like a village in here.

One thing I decided to add (of course, at the end of photographing this room) were these gorgeous huge ribbon bows to each chair, embellished with a spray of flocked pine and a couple of ornaments.  I love the way they just glam up this room a little more.  One down, 7 to go!

The sun was setting as I was taking these photos.  I realized after sunset, that this lovely table had such a beautiful glow in the evening and was going to be so pretty for our dinner with our house guests that are arriving any minute to stay with us this week.

On this small table in the corner, I created an extension of my “Winter Wonderland” but this time placing them in apothecary jars and cupcake and cake stands.  And of course, I had to grab another piece of faux fur to start it off.  I could’ve used the polyfil on the bottom but do you see how much more dramatic and dreamy and glamorous that touch of fur can be?  I could throw it on every table top and every seat cushion in my home, I love it that much.  (As I type this, I am thinking that Elizabeth Taylor is clapping for my ideas, ha!)

I used the pretty Christmas polyfil that you see for sale this time of year, sprinkled with shimmery faux snow flakes.  These little glitter houses are actually ornaments! I got them on clearance after last Christmas for 25 cents a piece and bought the rest of them.  I just removed the ornament hook and turned them into a little village.

I found some “snowy” garland and placed it all around the shelves inside my china hutch.

Using inexpensive snowflake ornaments, I just removed the string and placed them around the pieces inside.

All the sparkle and shine and texture just dresses it up so much, don’t you think?!

I threw in a few extra ornaments I had leftover as well.

I’ve always wanted to have a little Christmas Village like my grandmothers both have (and had).  It was always magical to me.  So I started collecting a few pieces.

Using the same “faux snow” above, I placed everything on top of my buffet table at the end of the dining room and created my little Winter Wonderland there.  I don’t love the blinds in the background BUT I do love the way the sun shines on all of the sparkly roofs and deer.  It not only adds glam to this room, but it creates a magical feeling for me.  Some of that is nostalgia, I’m sure.  But anything sparkly is always magical, in a way, to me.

I recently shared my Holiday Living Room Tour HERE and my new blush and gold Christmas tree.  I showed all of the sparkle on my tree as well as the pretty blush rose stems and shimmery ribbon bows.

To add glam to the room, I incorporated a hint of leopard with a couple of leopard pillows against the soft blush and subtle metallic gold threads.

Then to go a step further and give a little more glam to this room, I added 2 more things.  I grabbed a faux fur rug and placed it in front of the tree skirt and gifts.  It was a great way to soften the area and give it a more cozy feel.  When your friend walks in and says, “Oooooh I just looooove the fur rug you added right there,” you know you did the right thing.  Cozy glam! Don’t you just want to be sitting here in a pretty robe on Christmas morning, opening up those pretty packages? (another way to add glam…pretty packages)  Yes please.  I’ll feel like a million bucks!

The second thing I did to add a little more glad to this pretty room was to add a fabulous throw blanket.  Our friends at Annie Selke, who are sponsoring this tour, were kind enough to send me their new Pom Pom Slipper Pink Throw.  It is absolutely luxurious!  The wool-blend material is so cozy and soft while the blush pink gives it that romantic, feminine feel.  The large pom-poms give it that fun look.  It’s the perfect throw for this space.  I could take one in every color, for every room in my home.  It is divine!  I love the way this throw just drapes along the side of this vintage sofa I purchased about 4 years ago (in mint condition, still covered in plastic from the 70’s…score!).  I think I need to pull a Marilyn Monroe and go drape myself right over there with that throw blanket!

Do you see how the blush and leopard, with the combination of the faux fur and animal print give this space a more glamorous and luxurious feel? The pops of metallic gold add that much more.  Also think about bringing out your prettiest mugs and tea cups this time of year.

Whether they’re for your guest or to incorporate in your decor, they will definitely give a little sparkle and glam to any room or space.

Using a few of these different elements together that I’ve mentioned, you can create such beautiful vignettes and get that feel that you’re looking for when you walk into a room.

I know, I know…. It’s already October 19th and I’m just NOW sharing with all of you my Halloween Table.  Hahaha!  We have been soooo busy and I’ve been working on several projects but it’s better late than never, am I right?!  So let’s not waste any more time and let me invite you into my Dining Room to see my spooky glam halloween table!

My table was inspired by these adorable Skeleton plates I found at Home Goods one day.

Unfortunately….after grabbing 4 of them in one bag, I went to grab the other bag of 4 out of the back of my car and my attempt to grab too many bags at once failed me.  The second bag dropped and all 4 broke.  I didn’t cry, but I wanted to.  Life goes on.  I went back several times and tried several other stores but everyone else cialis generique professional was as eager to have them as I was and I never found more.  So, I found these adorable coordinating paper plates instead.  Yes, paper plates, and I mixed them up.  But it works, right?!

Before moving on, you have to meet my guest who is DIE-ing to meet you!

Friends, please meet “Bethesda”!  She’s very fancy and makes the perfect guest at our table.  She brought her friend, Bates the crow. If you have been following me on Instagram for a while, you know how much my kids like to name every animal and creature we bring out for the holidays.

Remember my pretty sparkly pumpkins from my FALL TOUR?  I said I’d be bringing them back out for Halloween and they are going back on the table to help create another table runner.  Underneath is a light, shimmery gold tablecloth and a lace spiderweb tablecloth on top.  I also grabbed a fun skull and placed it on a gold candlestick from my collection {of many} and some pretty black candle garland.

I see a theme of skeletons here….do you?  Wink wink.

I grabbed my gold mercury glass candle jars, my pretty white velvet glam-kins (glamorous pumpkins) I shared in my FALL TOUR…

and added these fabulous, glittery, sparkly pumpkins I found at ZGallerie this year.

I added black crows and halloween decor to my hutch.

I generic levitra bought this fun “beware” banner from Target last year.

In the corner, I knew it was the perfect place for my large {garage sale find} black birdcage that I save just for Halloween each year.  It’s so fun!

This black feather wreath (I added the ribbon and rhinestone embellishments) is the perfect addition at the top of the mirror.

On my buffet table I set up a fun candy bar for a fun after-dinner treat.  Of course, whenever someone walks in our home, they run over to the candy bar.

I added some fun Halloween decor to both ends of the table.

And even though it’s not cold here yet in Texas, it’s still “hot chocolate season” as far as my kids are concerned so my vintage tea cart is the perfect place for a hot cocoa station!

My witches hat is glam, especially resting on this gorgeous mercury glass candlestick.   Guests of mine ALWAYS know that from October through February that I will always have a hot cocoa station set up for them.

Apothecary jars  are the prettiest way to display hot cocoa and marshmallows.

Welcome to my home today as I am participating in this “Autumn’s In the Air Fall Tour”, so graciously hosted by Sheila Irwin from Maison de Cinq and Kim Hazel from Styled With Lace.  How much did you love Sarah’s home from Little Vintage Nest?  She’s so talented and I love her home.  I am sure you found some fall decor ideas you want to incorporate and I hope you find a few more here you love as well.  Each blogger sharing today is so talented and full of fabulous ideas.

Two weeks ago, I hosted the first annual “Harvest Haven Fall Tour – 2016” where I shared a few different areas of my home and how I welcomed fall.  I’m sharing a few other simple ways to continue embracing this beautiful season and changing things up in your home.  Let’s start with Brooklyn’s bedroom.

This 10 year-old daughter of mine practically picked out everything she wanted for her Girls Tween Bedroom Makeover and I shared it here this summer.  We changed a couple of small things and made it more cozy for fall.  Not only did we add a soft blanket between her sheets and coverlet for extra warmth, but we also switched out her blush ruffle throw blanket, draped at the end of her bed, for a plush blush throw blanket.  I love the texture and when you see it, you know cooler temps are upon us.

I also adde the fur rug at the end of her bed.  We opted not to do a bench in this room, since she has her vanity, so the fur rug was an excellent choice.  It’s so cozy and she loves taking off her pretty slippers and having a soft place for her toesies before climbing on to her bed!

It was so fun to find this blush velvet pumpkin!  It’s the perfect touch of fall in her room!

I just had a friend build this coffee table for me since I ran out of time.  I really wanted to do it myself but he did a fabulous job!  I threw a piece of faux fur on the table and added some beautiful bright decor and yet, with the birch candleholder, it adds an element of fall.

I pulled out our soft, warm chenille throw blankets and draped them throughout the house.  I even grabbed some mongolian fur throw pillows and switched out my spring/summer pillows.  I absolutely love snuggling right there on a cool night, watching a movie with my family.

I’m really excited about my new rug!  I needed a larger rug for this room when I decided last week, on a crazy whim, to break one of big rules and separate my sectional sofa.  It enclosed this room but I didn’t want to buy new sofas as we are renting this home until we move next year. RugsUSA sent me this fabulous area rug called the Bosphorus Floral Ornament Rug in ivory.  This is the 9’x12′ and it’s the perfect size for this room.  As temperatures cool down, we need that large area rug to keep our feet off the cold floor and on a cozy rug.  I can’t tell you how much I love it.  It’s the distressed look I was in search of and I love the ivory and light greys.  They compliment the room instead of take away from it. It’s so beautiful and I’m very impressed with the quality!  Just about every rug in my home comes from RugsUSA. Their prices and variety of styles can’t be beat!  Switching up your rugs this time of year is a great idea for fall and winter so stop by RugsUSA and find something you love!

On the opposite corner of the room, I dressed up one of my favorite vintage chairs.

All it takes is a small faux fur rug or a faux fur throw and it will give it that perfect cozy look.

It is such a romantic setting filled with that element of glam that I love.  Especially when I turn on the chandelier, it’s just so cozy and elegant.

I love the way the light bounces off all the pretty glittery pumpkins and turkey and all of the mercury glass!
If you have any fancy pumpkins, it’s easy to recreate this look.  I grabbed my glass and glitter pumpkins, glitter turkey, hurricanes, candle sticks, faux deer antler, candles and some fresh white roses to place down the center of the table to create a runner.

I am hosting Thanksgiving at my home this year, now that we’re back in Dallas, and I can’t decide if I want to decorate the table like this or one of the other ideas I have.  I’ll share those with you soon in another blog post and let you tell me which one you think would be best.

In the corner of the dining room, where I normally have a vase filled with fresh flowers in front of my tall mirror, I replaced it with Lambs Ear and a small white pumpkin for a simple topiary.

It reminds me of a mini version of this one below that I shared in my last fall tour.

Next week, many of you have children going back to school, if they haven’t already.  There are a few very important things we do to prepare for this event.  Clothes shopping is so fun this year because we moved back to Texas and there are NO MORE UNIFORMS!  Woohoo!!  Besides the back-to-school shopping, there are a few other things that I’ve had on my “list” that I’ve had to tackle and plan for.

First, if you have a daughter around the age of 10 like mine, you know how big of a deal a cute lunch bag (they were called lunch boxes back in my day) is to her.  I don’t know why, but out of all years that it’s most important, we have had the HARDEST time trying to find something she loves.  I feel like all I’m seeing are “Elsa”, unicorn, or character lunch bags.  That doesn’t work for her, or for me!  Our usual big stores have left us totally disappointed this year.  After a couple weeks of looking and complaining and finding nothing, a couple of friends were on Facebook sharing their same dilemma.  One had a solution for us and I’m soooo glad she did!  She asked if we had heard of Pursebox.  Nope, we had not.  We visited PurseboxShop on Instagram and on their website and WOW!  How adorable!!

This was the one!  We’d found a lunch box that looked like a purse.  Pursebox!  Brooklyn and I were both squealing with excitement!  Although pink is her favorite color, Brooklyn also loves aqua so she picked that one.  I love the pink, aqua and blue colors that it comes in.  Isn’t it just the cutest?! You can take your lunch back to school in style or take it to a friend’s house for a play date. Thank you, PurseboxShop!!  You’ve solved all our “tween” problems….for now, ha!

This year I kept it “simple”.  Simple to me, at least.  No balloons, no streamers or banners…just the food, a nice place setting and lovely floral arrangements.  We had one of our favorite drinks, Strawberry-Kiwi no-calorie drink, rolls, a large fruit platter (forgot to take a pic…eek!) and a fabulous chicken pasta salad (see below).  A friend reminded me that I had not pulled out my Kate Spade Flamingo Placemats all summer! {GASP!}  And every girl knows, Kate Spade is not meant to be kept in a drawer so I pulled these babies out and decided they were just the way to start planning my tablescape.

I knew immediately that I wanted a lovely pineapple/floral centerpiece. There were no large pineapples at the grocery store, so I grabbed 4 mini pineapples for around $1 on sale and used them for my “end of summer/back-to-school floral arrangement”.  I cut off the top, carved out the middle with a knife and spoon (takes just 2 minutes each pineapple, so it’s quick) and added a short, small glass cup.  Then I grabbed some pink roses that matched the pink flamingo placemats, white hydrangeas, and some green filler for the middle.  Easy peasy and very inexpensive.  I placed each one at the head of each place setting.

Being the end of summer, it is still HOT here in Texas and I wanted something light but filling. My friend shared this fabulous Chicken Teriyaki Pasta Spinach Salad years ago and I’ve loved it ever since.  You serve it cold but it is soooo tasty and hearty and everyone loves it.  Here’s the recipe:

Ingredients:
1 lb raw baby spinach
1 lb. farfalle (bowtie) noodles
2-3 chicken breasts (or 2 cups rotisserie chicken)
2 cups honey-roasted peanuts
1 cup dried cranberries
1 small can water chestnuts, sliced and chopped
1 large can mandarin oranges (14 oz)
1/2  chopped sweet onion
3 TBSP finely chopped fresh parsley

Dressing:
1/2 cup teriyaki sauce
1/4 cup oil
1/4 cup vinegar (either rice, white or apple cider vinegar works)
3 TBSP brown sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper

Instructions:
Prepare dressing by combining all of the ingredients well.
Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain water and add noodles to a large bowl. Toss the cooked noodles in about half of the teriyaki sauce and refrigerate until cooled.
Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper and grill until cooked through. Shred chicken or cut into small pieces.
Combine the spinach, cooked chicken, peanuts, dried cranberries, sliced water chestnuts, mandarin oranges, parsley, and chopped onion in a large salad bowl. Add the pasta to the bowl and toss to combine. Add additional dressing, if desired.

For dessert, I wanted to keep it light still.  I grabbed a sour cream angel food cake from my local grocer bakery.  At home, I make homemade whipped cream and diced strawberries and folded them in.  Then I smothered the cake with it AND even added another dollop of leftover strawberry whipped cream after slicing and serving each piece.  The perfect summer treat!  We enjoyed all the strawberries we picked the other day.

And you know what?  They absolutely LOVED it!  Just taking a minute to display something in a special way can make all the difference in the world.

The thing I love about this time of year is that you can find such gorgeous flowers out and they can make such a huge statement on your Easter table all on their own.  I decided I wanted just a few sparkly bunnies, a beautiful bouquet of white roses and simply place settings.
I started off by putting down a gorgeous light blue tablecloth with sparkly trim from Home Goods.  The placemats, from Target, are great because they’re so neutral and I can wipe them down.  The white cloth napkins are also from Home Goods and I love the matching blue pom-pom trim.  I’ve had my silverware for over 12 years and were a wedding registry gift. However, we’ve ruined or lost a few pieces and I found them at Pier1 recently and have replaced missing pieces and added additional sets as well.  The hobnail glasses are not plastic!  They are glass and so pretty and also found at Home Goods.

I always find such gorgeous flowers at Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods Markets.  The sparkly “Happy Easter” Glitter Garland in the background is being sold again this year from Pottery Barn Kids and I’m soooo glad because so many people have asked where I bought it the last 2 years.  Those sparkly bunnies just add the perfect touch! The white one on the left is from Home Goods and the smaller one next to it is from Pottery Barn this year and covered in german glass glitter.  They are beauties!  (Might be sold out online but HERE are similar ones.)

Here’s a closer and more sparkly shot of the large white glitter bunny from Home Goods AND this Simply Delicious Coconut Cake is sure to be a hit this Easter!  Not only is it oh so yummy but it’s also the prettiest Easter cake to compliment your tablescape.  Now, let it be known that I have a SERIOUS cake stand fetish/obsession/addiction!  They are displayed (ok, maybe some are also hidden in cupboards and closets so the hubs doesn’t realize this obsession) throughout my home…ha!  But I spotted this white scalloped cake plate at Home Goods last month and so glad I brought it home because this coconut cake looks soooo pretty on it. Dontcha think?  I bought the cake server the other day on another HG trip the other day and it matched perfectly with my table.  It was only $2 (it’s plastic) and came in all different colors.  You betchyer bottom dollar I bought them ;-p  This is starting to sound like a Home Goods infomercial and no…this isn’t sponsored by them but yes…I think it should be since we probably pay there salary with all my HG trips there each month hahaha!

Ok….here’s where I decided to go from “SIMPLE” tablescape and added a few more things…..
I found another Easter box in the garage I’d been looking for and it had all these cute little bunnies!!  So, I decided to make them my “table runner” and have a little fluffle of rabbits!  The darling pierced ceramic egg is found here at Pottery Barn.  It’s adorable with a little battery-operated candle as well. The cute shabby chic glitter bird on a box is just something I found at a local boutique.
