Tween Girl’s Bedroom in Blush Gold & Grey

We’ve been in our new home here in Vancouver, WA for almost a year now and I’m just now getting Brooklyn’s tween girl’s bedroom finished and posted. In blush, gold, and grey and with subtle bows in the design, this room is chic and modern enough but glam and vintage to give Brooklyn exactly the feel she wanted.

Back in Dallas, we gave Brooklyn her first tween bedroom makeover as she was growing from a young girl to a “tween-ager”. She wanted it to feel older but still have the little girl elements.

Before…

Now, she wants to leave some of those little girl touches and grow more towards a teenage girl room, switching out a few things here and there.

Tween Girl’s Bedroom in Blush Gold & Grey

Brooklyn actually chose the smallest bedroom in the house but she loved the location of it, facing the front. It’s a lovely way to wake up! Her large walk-in closet holds her dresser (shown in her last bedroom) and all of her clothes, shoes, and other things.

We got rid of the brass flower wall mirrors and single lamp and replaced them with this gorgeous pair of gold and ivory bow lamps from Perigold. I always find the prettiest things from Perigold’s online store! (Wait ’till you see what else I ordered from them as is on its way!) I fell in love with these lamps and really wanted them for my blush and gold office but knew they were a better fit in here. Brooklyn was thrilled.

We also painted her nightstands white to avoid too much grey, as her headboard was grey and so are the walls. (For wall paint color, click HERE.)

We kept these gorgeous paper wall flowers that were made for Brooklyn’s bedroom back in Dallas. Everyone loves them as much as we do.

Before the movers came to pack up our home in Dallas, I found this gorgeous new bedding for Brooklyn’s bed and threw it in one of the boxes, knowing it would be 6 months before getting to put it on her new bed.

The lumbar pillow with blush dots was found at HomeGoods and we decided we liked the bed best with that gold sequin gold bow pillow that she’s had.

It’s that perfect touch that says, “not a girl’s bedroom but not a teen’s bedroom”. So cute.

We tried one blush rug under her bead and didn’t love the look so we wen’t with white faux fur rugs on either side of the bed and it was perfect.

I made this 5-set of motivational wall art, framed in gold, for her last tween bedroom in Dallas (on Photoshop and with my Silhouette machine). She still loves them and wants to keep them a little longer so I was thrilled. If it wasn’t for that then I think I would have looked at an acrylic prints buy guide here to get her some bigger art for her walls. They look so tiny on these big walls it would have been good to get something to fill out the space a little more.

I had this chandelier in my office back in Dallas and Brooklyn wanted it for her room. It was a PBKids chandelier that I restrung myself with sparkly glass beads and then added gold glitter paint to the jute tassel and wrapping on the chandelier.

Of all the blush pink drapes we’ve tried, we finally went with this option because we liked it best.

I found this gorgeous sateen fabric at JoAnn’s Fabrics in “Rosewater” and sewed the edges, made a pocket for the curtain rod, and then kept it long enough to puddle on the floor. I love that look.

Girls White Vanity

Since she wanted her vanity out in her small bedroom, we put her dresser in the walk-in closet since it fit just fine. Funny thing…we actually wanted to get Brooklyn a new vanity for this bedroom BUT we couldn’t find the right one in our budget or made of real wood. So I fixed the drawers, gave it a new coat of paint and it’s lovely for now. The vintage mirror was a fabulous find back in Dallas and was actually in my last office. I love the detail of another gold bow in the room. We added some gold spray paint to the edges (my favorite spray paint is in this tutorial here) to brighten the dull gold and make it more modern. We did the same to this simple stool we found and then added padding and faux fur. I love the mix of modern and vintage pieces!

Living Room Update: New Chandelier, Rug & Art

I’m so excited to share an update to our living room with all of you today! When I first revealed our bright white living room after moving in last fall, I had rushed to find temporary lighting, a rug and some art for the walls. It looked lovely but not exactly what I wanted or envisioned for that room. Although I recently shared some fun touched to this room in my summer tour, we finally found the perfect chandelier and rug that I’d been wanting for this living room and also a fabulous new piece of art that has really brought it all together perfectly!

NEW LIVING ROOM CHANDELIER

BEFORE…..

I had most of our lighting chosen for the new house last fall as we were finishing the build of our home but I was panicking, as I really didn’t know yet what I wanted for this living room. I mean, I knew what I was envisioning but not finding it exactly.

I found this flush-mount lighting and since it had brass and some clear beaded strands for a reasonable price, I bought it to hold me over. Our superintendent was needing our living room lighting ASAP.

AFTER…..

Do you hear angels singing? Because I sure do!

This Crystorama Calypso 136-VG 6-Light Chandelier has the most beautiful crystal drops with a vibrant gold finish and it’s the perfect size for this living room!

I have always said that your chandelier is like the jewelry to your room and I wasn’t happy with my lighting before, but NOW….it finishes this room perfectly! I’m so thrilled!

I love how breathtaking it is, as you walk into the living room from the entry of our home. It definitely makes a statement and a great first impression! My friends at Crystorama were gracious enough to partner up with me on this update to my living room and I was so thrilled because they had also collaborated with me on my Master Bathroom lighting and y’all KNOW how obsessed I’ve been with that lighting! So many of you have gone crazy over it too!

Crystorama has the prettiest lighting solutions! I’m so in-love with this one I chose!

NEW LIVING ROOM RUG

BEFORE….

The rug I previously had in our living room was beautiful. There was nothing wrong with it at all. It was actually good to get us through the winter months and wet feet. But I felt it was too dark for this room. You might disagree but last year I was in a store and found the perfect rug. I even shared it on my Instagram stories and you all went NUTS over it and hoped I’d bought it. But sadly….after I shared it with you, a man moved me aside to grab the rug for a customer who had asked for it. Sad! But I was able to find the rug I’d been dreaming of since that day.

AFTER…

I partnered up with RugSavings.com and they had this rug I loved so much, the Dynamic Rugs Quartz 27030 Area Rug in Ivory/Beige.

It has the prettiest mix of cool ivory, beige and gray and goes so much better with this room. It really brightens it up. I also took the baskets out that were underneath the table. It trapped the light from passing through and I felt like it made this entire coffee table look too dark and heavy. But with a new rug and removing the baskets….the change was huge and now I love this space so much more!

Even Giorgio loves it! It’s just so pretty and I’m thrilled with the difference it’s made in this room.

NEW LIVING ROOM ART

BEFORE…

When I first styled the room last fall, I couldn’t find a piece of art I was really loving specifically for this space. I just used what I had from our last home that hadn’t been hung yet. It was fine.

But then I met Craig Wellbrock, an artist here in the Pacific Northwest, and he sent me this piece.

I wanted one of his minimal abstract art pieces and then he went a step further to make it even more “me” and added this blush pink stripe.

Updated Living Room

I’m so pleased with how just a few small changes made such a HUGE impact on this room and gave it a whole new look!

The new chandelier and rug, along with removing those baskets under the coffee table and allowing light to pass through more freely, have all helped brighten this room and reflects more of my style and the feeling I wanted here in our living room.

In a place like here, in the Pacific Northwest that has lots of cloudy and rainy days, keeping my home bright and happy is so important. I survived our first winter last year just fine!

Every time I’m home, no matter what the weather outside, it is bright inside and such a happy and beautiful place to be. That’s really important to me. I love being at home and having people over and entertaining.

Master Bedroom Summer Refresh

The Seasonal Simplicity Home Tour series is back; and this time we’re all about simple summer decor touches! All week long, my talented blogging friends and I are sharing part of our homes. I can’t wait to take in all the gorgeous inspiration! Thanks so much to our friend, Krista from The Happy Housie, who is hosting this tour and getting us all together. I recently shared my first Summer Tour HERE, which included my Living Room and Kitchen. Today I wanted to share with you how I made simple changes to give my Master Bedroom a summer refresh!

Looking back….

Last year back in Dallas before building our home here in the Pacific Northwest and moving across the country, our master bedroom looked like this (read all about it here).

We kept the bedding and some pillows and we still love our headboard and bench but I was convinced I wanted to do something totally different in this new home. But guess what? I’ve been looking and thinking and I really don’t know what I want to do yet. So instead, I’m finishing other spaces in our home first and I decided to just give our master bedroom here a “summer refresh” and change a few things. It’s easy! You can do it too! Here’s what I did in this home.

Instead of keeping our ivory down duvet cover on the entire bed, I folded it down and kept it just at the foot of the bed for a cooler night. Since the temperatures are now warmer, our fresh crisp sheets and white ruffle coverlet seem just perfect. I also like the way the white linens and bedding brighten up the room.

Mixing Whites and Creams

Tip: Mixing whites and creams are absolutely OKAY to do!
I love the way it gives the room more sophistication and looks lovely, layered together.
DON’T add just one pop of cream in a room or it might appear “dirty”.
DO try to balance the whites and creams.

Updating Our Nightstands

Our last nightstands were vintage finds from our days back in Waco, Texas. I wanted some nicer pieces that were more functional and had cleaner lines and more contemporary drawer knobs or pulls.

I was so happy to partner with my friends at Universal Furniture on these gorgeous Summer Hill Nightstands. I love the size, as I wanted large nightstands that could be great for storage but beautiful too.

(Mirrored framed art with linen matting is from a designer warehouse sale in California a few years ago but the dress form art is titled “Trés Jolie” if you wanted to search them on the net.)

I love the ring drawer pulls and traditional style! It’s exactly what I had in mind. I love the ease of the drawers AND I absolutely love…..

…..the smart feature! I love that it has a lift top and a power outlet inside for 3 devices. I plug in our lamps and our mobile phones and there’s room for one other thing so I like that I can plug in my laptop and no longer have to plug the laptop on the side wall. Josh may have tripped on it a time or two in the middle of the night, eek! Universal Furniture makes such high-quality furniture and I’m so thrilled to have their pieces in my home! I highly recommend these nightstands. Josh and I are both so happy with them and they look perfect in our master bedroom.

Faux Floral Touches

I love using both fresh and faux floral in my home. Since I have all fresh flowers downstairs and also up here in my office, I decided to stick with a cute faux bundle I found at Michael’s Craft Store recently and put them in these little glass candleholders that seemed perfect for vases (I loved the gold rim).

I’ve recently partnered up with Perigold as a Tastemaker to share with you their gorgeous high-quality pieces that they offer from the design world’s top brands. I’ve found loads of fabulous home accents, art, textiles, furniture and more but I’ll share all of those fun finds with you over the coming weeks. For my master bedroom summer refresh, I chose this gorgeous Legend Of Asia Spenser Table Vase for a pop of blush for the season. Anything ombre always catches my eye and then that gold base stole my heart. I love blush and gold together. I knew it would be perfect with some of my faux blush cherry blossom stems that I had on hand. With a pretty pineapple candle that smells absolutely DIVINE and some pretty pink matches, it seemed like the perfect touch of “summer” on this tray for my bed.

For another pop of color and also because I didn’t always want to use the heavy down duvet, I chose my blush pom-pom throw blanket (sold-out at Nordstrom but similar throws are here and here).

Summer Refresh Cleaning Tips

While many people do “spring cleaning”, some of us do “summer cleaning” as well. If you were too busy this spring and want to jump into some summer cleaning, I highly recommend it as some of these things are important to do monthly.

1- Dust and wipe down your light fixtures.

2- Vacuum dust from headboard or wipe down if your headboard is not upholstered.

3- Vacuum mattress and then use steamer to kill any dust mites. Do the same to your lamp shades. I do this quarterly.

4- Switch out your linens for fresh whites to brighten the room. Fold down heavy duvets or quilts.

5- Change out throw pillows and throws. If you have a neutral room, throw in a fun pop of color for the summer.

6- Switch out your art and/or accent pieces.

7- Add some fresh or faux florals around the room.

8- Clean any area rugs.

That pretty pink vase looks pretty over on my vanity too. I’ve added hints of blush for the summer by adding a plush blush pillow on my vintage chair (that chair was one of my favorite garage sale finds back in Waco, when we lived there, and I had it recovered), blush faux roses in my vase on my dresser instead of white, and even left out my Gucci crossbody bag on my vanity.

I wanted to show you my chaise lounge and dresser too BUT forgot to take pics (blonde moment) and just got back from an early 40th Birthday trip with my hubby so I’ll share that in another post later. OR I’ll just update this one so check back!

Spring was graced with peony season and I couldn’t be happier because it leads us right into summer. Here, in the Pacific Northwest, we have a plethera of peonies. I’ve been buying them every week until my new peony bushes finally bloomed and filled with white and light pink peonies. Oh happy day!

I switched up my coffee table a little bit from my spring table (here) and added some pink peonies. My friend sent me this darling blue and white square ceramic jar and, in keeping with my blush and blue palette, they looked so pretty in it. I just found it for sale HERE and HERE, as it comes in 2 sizes.

After weeks of heading to Trader Joe’s for pink peonies, guess what? My peony bushes bursted with the prettiest pink peonies. I found this adorable long basket at HomeGoods one day and I knew it’d be perfect for carrying all the flowers from my garden that I clip and bring into my house.

The Perfect Dress for Summer

This darling summer dress is a new favorite of mine! My sweet and talented friend Elizabeth of Elizabeth Wilson Designs sent me this beautiful Judy Lanien Dress in Stripe and I’m head-over-heels in love with it! She has the prettiest dresses and tops.

I recently shared this darling Katherine Top from her shop and you all went nuts over it. I love her designs so much! If you want this delicious Pink Lemonade Chiffon Naked Cake recipe, I highly recommend it! It’s to die for and the perfect summer treat!

Ok, back to my living room…..

I found the cutest blush pineapple dish at a local boutique and knew it’d look adorable with some candy here.

I removed all the other pieces from this tray on my coffee table to keep it simple and fresh.

I also found a darling gold pineapple that I knew would be perfect for my mantel.

I wanted to keep everything else the same in this room but I did grab light throws and replaces the heavy faux fur blankets with them for the summer. I think it was a good change.

I also added a cute pom pom basket to hold one of my favorite blush throws.

I also changed up my bar cart for the summer. I just received this particular bar cart last month and shared it with you on my French Bistro back patio dining area.

I decided to remove the juju hat that was here on the wall and put it up in our bonus room. Instead, I replaced it with this lovely floral canvas art I found at HomeGoods last week and was so thrilled with the lovely pinks and blues. However, it had a silver frame so I painted it gold and I also put gold leaf paint in the middle of the flower to cover up the silver. I really love how it turned out.

While I am patiently waiting for my new pineapple snack jar to arrive from Pottery Barn after being restocked, I happened upon this almost identical one at HomeGoods and brought it home. I’m thrilled to have 2 of them. This darling jar is perfect for pina colada jelly beans or other candies.

Every Saturday after Beckham’s soccer games, our family loves to go to our local Farmers’ Market for baked goods, delicious jams, fresh organic fruit and veggies, and lots of beautiful flowers.

I’ve brought home the most beautiful bouquets each week that have graced my kitchen island.

I try to have some kind of coordinating treat out on my cake stand and these Trader Joe’s lemon squares, although not nearly as good as my mom’s recipe, do just fine. I also grabbed lots of freshly-picked lemons, as lemon screams “summertime” to me!

Make sure to come back on Wednesday as I’ll be sharing the most delicious Lemon Curd Parfait Recipe that is perfect for the summer and my family absolutely loves it!

Also, later this week, I’ll be sharing the most darling little summer tablescape with lemons and more of these pretty flowers. One of my favorite things in the summer is to wear pretty white tops and sundresses. I love this darling white top as it is so light and airy but feminine. I pair it with denim bermuda shorts and my favorite white sandals that are perfect for the summer. I’ll share more pics of this outfit later.

Brass Bar Stool Round Up

Spring Home Tour With Accents Of Blush & Blue

I started off this spring by sharing with you my Rain Gear Round-Up. Spring showers bring those beautiful flowers and we get more than most of you, being in the Pacific Northwest. I don’t mind the rain and it’s so gorgeous here but I definitely find importance in staying dry while being fashionable as well.

My mantel before spring was bright and simple with mixed metals. I added a hint of blush and blue to my mantel for spring and even shared another variation for Easter by adding a few things.

I found the cutest blue striped tablecloth with tassels and knew I wanted to use it for my Easter table with blush pink and a vintage milk glass place setting.

This was one of my favorite tables ever, for a few reasons. Read HERE to find out why and to see the tassels on the tablecloth and the entire finished table.

Also in that same blog post, I share how I added pink and blue to my bright white kitchen for the spring and the new rug runner I found.

No matter what your spring color palette is, I used things I already had to style my kitchen using those colors. See more and read all about it HERE.

One of my favorite things about spring time is that we get outside more…even in the rain! It warms up just a little bit and the sun comes out and we start playing out in the neighborhood again. Being in a brand new subdivision and one of the first ones to build in our cul-de-sac, we now have a bunch of homes being finished and all these new neighbors are moving in. We were soooo excited! I made these darling printable gift tags for baked goods and shared them with all of you. Brooklyn (my 12 year-old) made delicious Snickerdoodles and we brought these to all our new neighbors (they all seem to be moving in at once) and introduced ourselves and welcomed them to the neighborhood. You can print and use these tags from this post.

After winter is over and we put away our hot cocoa bar, I transform the bar cart into a Spring Bar Cart with fun drinks on hand for all ages. I also share this beautiful and comfortable ruffled skirt for spring.

And if company is coming, I put out some baked goods as well. I also like to change up my candles and freshen my home up with fruity and flowery scents and put away all the pine and cinnamon.

In my most recent Current Crushes post, I share home accents I love for the spring as well as fashion and gift ideas. It’s a must-read! I just love when my girlfriends tell me about a fun find or a good sale….don’t you?!

My daughter and I just LOVE to bake and we do it year-round. In the spring, you will usually find cakes and baked goods with lemon or coconut or other fruity flavors. Last weekend we made this Pink Lemonade Chiffon Naked Cake and it was HEAVENLY!! The recipe is easy and sooooo delicious. Find this recipe HERE.

I recently received new pillow covers for the spring from Willa Skye Home. These blush linen pillow covers, paired with the spa blue antelope pillow covers just brought such an elegance to this bright living room for the season.

Do you see who else got a new bed for spring?

It’s the cutest lucite and brass dog bed I found at HomeGoods a couple of weeks ago and I’m so glad he finally warmed up to it because it looks perfect in the living room!

I told you all that I’ve been freshening up my foyer for spring. I love to “shop my home” and move things around when I get sick of spaces. I pull out all of my faux flowers and decided to use blush, obviously. And 4 months later, I have to say that this gorgeous chandelier from my friends at Bellacor still takes my breath away every time I go downstairs. I also stocked up on more faux pink peonies and cherry blossoms from Michael’s. I posted this pic on Instagram (but a more zoomed out shot) and everyone thought they were real. Now, I buy fresh flowers for the house every week but when it’s spring and I really want to bring out a lot of cherry blossoms and peonies and roses and more, it’s wise to invest in some fabulous faux floral stems to save money AND not have to constantly change the water and cut your flowers every day or two.

Back to my entry…
I made some really fun straw totes with Brooklyn a couple of months ago (tutorial coming next week) and put it on our foyer bench with some faux pink peonies.

Instead of a faux fur throw and pillows on our bench, as we did in the winter, I used a light scarf that I could easily take with me and even use as a wrap if it’s a chilly spring day. I also used linen pillows on our bench after putting the winter pillows away. And yes….I bought myself a new pair of sandals since it’s warming up and my toes are dying to see the sun.

While “shopping my home” I used brought in both of my large and small temple jars and filled them with faux cherry blossom stems.

I kept the lamp but also put out a home interiors book I love and my newest GORGEOUS jar from my friend Alyssa. Her shop Amped Decor is so fabulous and I love so many of her pieces. After breaking my last jar that was identical to this, she heard about it and sent me this one. You MUST visit her online shop and see all of the fun things she sells as well as her lovely home. Get ready to swoon!

I wanted some framed art on this middle mirrored tray. I couldn’t find anything that I truly loved so I decided to print out and frame one of my favorite pictures of a door in Portugal (where I lived years ago as a missionary) draped in blossoming branches during spring. It has the prettiest blue door and I just look at it and smile, reflecting on some of the best memories.

In a smaller frame, I added a print of blush and blue butterflies that I designed. If you’re interested, let me know. I might just add another blog post and offer it as a free printable next week. Butterflies come and you just know it’s spring time….right?!

I also added one of my favorite Agape Candles and I think it’s the perfect spring entry table now.

On the other side of our entry, I removed the gray pillows from my faux fur settee bench and added this blush ruffle throw blanket from my online shoppe.

(Yes, that is our thermostat in the most awkward place on that wall. There was nowhere else they could put it in the house. We went over and over this and it killed me to put it there…eye sore! I usually photoshop it out for photos…ha!)

It’s the perfect soft and elegant touch for spring.

I found this darling and affordable blush and blue geometric dress (here or here) and these shoes (similar here) and loved that they went with my spring interior color palette. You can’t see the earrings very well but they are these ones and are sooooo cute!

Coastal Chic Kids Bathroom Reveal

When I shared our Guest Bathroom a few weeks ago, I mentioned how hard it was to photograph because there were no windows (being in the center of the house).

The same thing goes for this kids bathroom and our laundry room. So bare with me as I did my absolute best to capture these shots of the bathroom with all the natural light I could get from the hallway and bonus room windows.

Now that we live on the West Coast and live in a Craftsman-style home, I’ve really loved embracing coastal elements in my design. I reflected on our friends’ Beach House bathroom and then when I found this coastal canvas art at Ross for $19.99, I knew I wanted a bathroom that was coastal chic for the kids and incorporate these blue-greens into this bright white space. We have a son and a daughter so it was a style they were both in favor of, since it wasn’t just a boy or girl bathroom.

I knew I wanted these mirrors but finding the right sconce took much longer. I imagined something with wooden beads but something chic.

When I found this Didier 2-Light Candle Wall Sconce , I knew it would be perfect. It was like a sconce and a chandelier….the best of both worlds.

It also had those wooden beads and definitely meets my “coastal chic” requirement.

We stuck with large white tile and thin grout for the floors and counter top. We’ll change the counter top later because I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do at the time we were building and I had to make a quick decision. I’m also still deciding on a backsplash but we’ll get to that in a second.

I partnered with my friends at Hardware Resources on this gorgeous polished chrome Hayworth Cabinet Pulls.

I’ve also linked them below, for your shopping convenience. We used these same pulls in our laundry room (reveal coming at a later time) and also our Master Bathroom that we shared a couple of weeks ago.

Lovely little details like seafoam green bathmats, an acrylic tray and bathroom jars, bathroom towels with hints of seafoam, a sea-green vase with an Aurora Borealis finish, and this casual shower curtain (that looks identical to one of our beach towels) helped create the clean coastal feel I wanted.

Ok, so I mentioned the backsplash earlier…..
Here are the few that we are looking at. There’s one that I think is in the lead, for me, but I’ll reveal that when it’s been finished. I have this crazy desire to do it myself. I love a good DIY and home improvement project.

Will it be the sea green glass tile backsplash?

Will it be the Mother of Pearl Mermaid Scales tile?

Or will it be the Mother of Pearl penny tile for the backsplash?

Blush And Gold Glam Office Reveal

Just a few months ago, we moved into our new home as it was finished being built. As we’ve settled in and have finished organizing and decorating rooms I’ve been revealing them to you here, one by one. Today I’m taking you into a room that’s all my own, where I create and think and write and plan and dream. Join me as I reveal to you my blush and gold glam office!

This upstairs office is just next to our master bedroom and the only space upstairs with the same flooring as our downstairs.

I kept my long white desk that we had back in our Dallas home. It’s from IKEA and I love it because it’s so long that I can work on a couple of projects at once. I can sew on it if I want to or pull out my small sewing folding table. (Note: I think they only make this desk in black/brown now and not white but you could prime and paint it. It’s a great piece!)

I wish I could find one as long as it but with drawers.

Until then, I have a vintage piece that I keep next to my desk, full of office supplies and holds my printer.

I once had these mirrored candle wall sconces (found at Tuesday Morning a couple of years ago) and this pretty chandelier canvas art by Oliver Gal called “Candelabro” in our living room back in our home in Dallas.

I like the subtle grey of the art blending with the wall and the gold and blush tones. It was perfect for this blush and gold glam office!

HOW TO HIDE CORDS:

One of the most frequent problems of any office is how to conceal the router and cords so that everything looks tidy and beautiful. For a couple of months I searched for pretty boxes to hide them in, as this was the only way with the style of desk I have and not much to hide it behind. I already have many pretty boxes in my office but they weren’t large enough to put everything in. I decided to grab a $5 white IKEA file box and use blush paint and water to create an ombré watercolor design. It’s simple and it matches. All the cords go through the back hole of the box.

I made sure everything on my desk was blush, gold, and white and pretty to look at.

Blush pens, pretty mugs, coordinating portfolios, pretty notebooks, candles and accessories.
And of course…there’s my favorite bow chair.

Remember this set-up from my office back in Dallas? This “Press For Diet Coke” framed buzzer is back.

All you need are the items below to make your own and also the words printed on a piece of paper that fits in the frame. Click on items to shop.

Spray the frame gold first. You’ll just hot glue the buzzer onto the middle of the printed paper, already in the frame. Hang on the wall. OR you can order it already made below at the end of the post in the “Shop The Post” section.

It gets soooo bright in my office but I love my view with the big windows. I get to watch all the horses run around on the beautiful property next to us and I get to see the most beautiful sunsets out the back window. I love having a lot of natural light in my office. I would hate for it to feel like a dungeon.

This is a popular IKEA hack. The Vittsjö shelving system is inexpensive, can be sprayed gold, and is a beautiful way to store things.

I keep a lot of files in boxes, rather than a filing cabinet. I like the way it looks and is a prettier way to store important documents. It also takes up less space.

I styled the shelves with not only pretty boxes of important files but also with pieces that are new to my online shoppe.

I have a lovely collection of fashion books that I also keep here.

I also display jewelry on the top and one of my favorite prints that a friend gave me, trimmed in gold glitter and in a mirrored frame.

My favorite blush chair (originally shared in this post) also came with us from Dallas. I like to call this my “instafamous blush chair” because this Nate Berkus-designed chair caught his eye on my Instagram feed (back when my IG name was “SheLeavesALittleSparkle”) and he even included it in his blog post. You can read all about it HERE on Nate Berkus’ blog.

At a California Interior Designer’s warehouse sale back home, I found that lovely venetian-bordered mirror with gold distressing. It’s really unique and I love the glam feel of it. I knew it would be perfect above my chair.

When I’m typing or creating something, I usually sit in my favorite bow chair at my desk.

If I’m going to be writing or editing a while, I like to sit in my blush chair. I also like it because it’s a place my kids can come, or my hubby, and sit and talk to me while I’m in my office.

I looked and looked for a chandelier that felt right for this office. I wanted crystals on it, more modern clean lines, and brass or gold metal. I found it here.

A couple of years ago I wrote a blog post on DIY Framed Wallpaper Panels as a solution to a bare wall. We were renting at the time, back in Dallas, and knew we’d be moving for my husband’s job but I really loved wallpaper. So I made framed wallpaper panels (so easy) and loved how it turned out.

I enjoyed them but was looking for something new for this new office. I tried fashion art in a collage and I tried several large pieces of art but in the end….nothing seemed quite right. I pulled out the panels from my “for sale” pile in my garage and fell in love with them again. I love the champagne and blush colors with the gold frames.

I sold 2 other pieces of furniture that just didn’t fit this office and didn’t give me the storage solution I wanted for all my crafty things, customer orders, and shipping supplies. But I came across this vintage dresser being sold locally on Craigslist and knew it would be perfect.

I painted it and sprayed the vintage handles gold instead of replacing them because I thought they were so cool. Aren’t they pretty?!

A treat for visitors…because macarons and chocolates are the best treats. Don’t you wish you could reach through the screen right now and have one? I wish you could too. If you were here in person, I’d even make you a Dirty Diet Coke!

I found these lovely etagere end tables at Tuesday Morning a couple of years ago but I’m linking similar ones below. They’re perfect for the sides of my large office window to help frame the room and add extra storage.

Tranquil Glam Master Bathroom Tour

For those that follow me on Instagram (https://instagram.com/SummerAdamsDesigns) I’ve shared many views of this space during the construction process and I’ve shared the beautiful view outside these windows. The tall trees is the reason we nicknamed this our “Tall Trees Lane” home and why we chose this lot.
It’s so gorgeous here.

I chose a free-standing tub (Max Ella Sleek 105744 with a Delta 90º faucet) for this space and knew I wanted a chandelier to hang over it. I partnered with my friends at Crystorama, as I already have one of their chandeliers over my dining table and love it, and chose one of their chandeliers for the tub.

The one I chose was this gorgeous Crystorama Traditional Crystal 4-Light Chandelier. The crystal prisms are just divine and I love the way light bounces off of them and on to the rest of the bathroom.

I originally thought I’d go with a chandelier just slightly larger than this BUT with this view and having 2 windows looking out at the Wetlands and tall trees, I didn’t dare want to block any of it. I only wanted to compliment the tub with this chandelier, like a single strand of pearls with a pretty dress.

I love walking into the bathroom each day and seeing the sunrise (which I can actually see from my bed as well) and sunset, fog in the mornings covering the Wetlands, our neighbors beautiful horses….
it’s heavenly!

I added a pair of lovely beaded square mirrors on the side wall.

I love all the natural light that comes into this bathroom.

Crystorama also sent me this gorgeous Brentwood 2-light Crystal Chrome Sconce for the middle of my vanity mirrors. I love seeing the other chandelier in the reflection.

I didn’t have room for wall sconces on the sides of the mirrors also, which was fine because I have recessed lighting above and get plenty of light. But that meant that I really wanted a statement piece, nothing simple but something with drama and elegance…something glamorous.

This was the perfect light for that! I’m so thrilled with it. It’s made with Swarovski crystals and it is such a stunning fixture. I was worried about the lighting being “too glam” for my hubby but I was wrong. He walked in and his jaw dropped and he loved it. The word he used was “exquisite”.

I couldn’t agree more!

When looking for hardware for these cabinets, I knew I wanted polished chrome pulls to match the plumbing and other bathroom hardware. I went to Hardware Resources and came across these gorgeous, sleek Hayworth Chrome Cabinet Pulls and knew they were perfect.

I was so glad they wanted to collaborate and send them to me and I knew they’d be a gorgeous addition to this master bathroom. They’re contemporary but elegant and I love the brilliant finish.

I also used them in the laundry room and kids bathroom, which I haven’t revealed yet but will soon. I first shared a sneak peek of them in this post.

Nothing fancy about our shower. It does the job. And to the right, behind that door, is our master closet and I can’t wait to share that with you!

A towel bar hangs behind the bathroom door and I happened to still have a canvas art print in my “decor stash” that I purchased years ago and it fit perfectly here.

Still looking for art for the wash closet. I love that there’s a small window in there so that it gets more light streaming in.

This gorgeous light gray tufted ottoman mostly stays in our master closet but I pull it out to rest my things on when I take a bath.

I usually set a tray there with my water and maybe my cell phone. I definitely have a candle, always, and my bath salts and shower wrap. When I say this master bathroom is tranquil, I mean it! It has the elements I need to relax….a gorgeous view, neutral colors, lots of natural light, adorned with crystals, soft towels, and lovely-scented candles.

I wanted everything to feel clean and tranquil and not busy so I used glass and chrome soap dispensers with clear soap. I found these gorgeous tall beaded mirrors with a distressed beveled edge which added to the that glam element.

What once was an urn for flowers or plants is now the perfect piece for my rolled hand towels.

Notice we chose the white tile for the floor and a shinier version for the counter tops, for now. We will probably change that down the road when I know what I want. I’m also looking for a backsplash in here as well as the guest bedroom, which I revealed HERE last week.

I’m so pleased with how it came together and how tranquil it truly feels. I love getting ready in my master bathroom! Bright White Guest Bathroom – Transitional & Elegant

I really love how this bathroom has turned out so far. We still have the backsplash to do in the spring and maybe a countertop change but still thinking on it.

It was hard to photograph, being that it has not windows, so I relied in natural light coming from the guest bedroom and family room and then turned on the lights for some photos.

I was so thrilled to collaborate and partner with Birch Lane, one of my favorite home decor brands, on this guest bathroom. I knew I wanted to have brass fixtures and hardware in this bathroom, as I do in the entire downstairs of the house, but I didn’t have any other real inspiration or starting point.

But then I came across their Caprice Cotton Shower Curtain and my jaw-dropped. I have major heart eyes for this gorgeous, elegant curtain. And there was my inspiration that I needed! I wanted this bathroom to be a very feminine and elegant space but also transitional in style, so I had to balance it out with more contemporary pieces with clean lines.

That led me to finding a light for above my round mirror. I didn’t want anything too fancy or ornate but with simple and just stunning to look at. That was this piece.

The Newsoms 3-Light Vanity Light stopped me in my tracks, just as I knew it had to be. It had a textured gold finish with iced glass and that contemporary glam feel.

I knew it would perfectly compliment the elegant shower curtain and also hang beautifully above the round mirror. I didn’t even bother looking at any others. This was the look I wanted. When you know, you know! I really love this rug I found as well.

I added pretty white and silver damask towels and this beautiful print from Oliver by Oliver Gal. The warm brass towel bar and shower curtain rod adds a more contemporary touch, making it the perfect transitional style.

This other Oliver Gal art of the angel wings was such a perfect find for this bathroom.

I kept this contemporary tray simple with faux florals and bathroom toiletries.

This Poopouri gets a laugh but trust me….you guests and visitors will appreciate this and so will you, ha!

We didn’t switch out the sink yet but we did choose warm brass accents like the towel ring and…

…and also chose this gorgeous acrylic and brass hardware. It’s also affordable (shopping links below) so I really loved finding these! Btw…this rug doesn’t match the other one but the other one is STILL on backorder! This was a random one I found at HomeGoods.

Also, not pictured is the toilet paper holder that I love and we just installed.
It matches the rest of the bars also.

This elegant bathroom will be perfect for my mom, who comes up a lot from California (sometimes with my dad), but is so feminine and I just know she’ll especially love and appreciate this space. Also, my sisters and friends will just love it, I’m sure! I really thought of them in this design.

A HUGE THANK YOU to my friends at Birch Lane for collaborating with me! Their light fixture and shower curtain really gave my guest bathroom the gorgeous transitional and elegant style that I wanted. It’s so crisp and clean and the visitors we have already had just love the feeling of the bathroom! Ok, just WAIT till you see the coordinating guest bedroom I’ve designed and am putting together right now. A little hint…it will be bright white but have a really fun pop of color!
